Busy is a status symbol. Busy sometimes is what management thinks is required to ensure people are doing a job. This video does a great job at what I call - unbusying yourself. What if we took the energy from constant reporting and constant short-term decision making into long-term collaboration and strategizing? Often, I ask leadership about topics majority are not considering in the current moment. When asked they are quick to frantically respond, "We aren't ready for that." In which I reply, "If we aren't ready now, what determines when we will be ready?" It is often the fear of not having the answer or feeling we don't have the time for it - how do we make the time then instead of running away? #strategy #longtermthinking #unbusyyourself

Truth! Efficiency over busyness everytime! Allotting time to strategic plan, execute, and assess not only benefits the bottom line, it benefits the people tasked to make it happen. I would highly suggest undivided attention during those planning meetings as we are rarely fully "present" during meetings anymore between emails and phones. Integrating a few tech breaks in addition to bio breaks in these meetings sets a focused tone that also addresses "other task(s)" concerns. Changing the culture is challenging AND the reward is worth it.
