The quality and care of a search process says so much about an institution and its values. Thank you for the warm congratulations, ALG! What I appreciated about Aspen Leadership Group's collaboration with The Music School of Delaware in this search was: 1. As a candidate, I felt a real sense of care from everyone I encountered at The Music School and ALG. 2. I never felt pressured or cajoled or coached into being anyone else other than my authentic self. 3. While the process was surely rigorous, stepped, and thoughtful, it took care not to ask so much of me as a candidate that it became all-consuming (in previous searches I have spent dozens of hours answering multi-page questionnaires; preparing, rehearsing, and delivering extensive decks; conducting substantive qualitative and quantitative analysis; or participating in last-minute scheduled additional meetings or interviews above and beyond those agreed-to in the process). I was asked a lot and offered a lot, but never felt like I was being completely wrung out by the process.

NEW ARTICLE| Authored by EPS researcher Dr Simon Petty, this new article explores the ever-evolving landscape of jazz education, and why it's crucial to acknowledge the rich tapestry of influences that shape this musical genre. The Jazz Diaspora represents a paradigm shift, challenging conventional perspectives and enriching our understanding of jazz's global reach.    As New Jazz Studies gains momentum in academia, it's now timely to explore how jazz has developed in other places and locales outside the US. The journey spans continents, cultures, and histories, encapsulating diverse voices and narratives to foster contemporary approaches and inclusions into jazz education. By examining the intersections of jazz diaspora and New Jazz Studies, Australian jazz luminary Graeme Bell's legacy is presented as a case study to suggest how this new transformative pedagogical approach could be applied.
