I love the early stages of businesses! I was asked yesterday why I was suited to that stage of a business and after pondering, the answer was clear, I just like to get my hands dirty and think a little differently. It made me reminisce about times in the past that this was true, and enjoyable!
As a 13 year old, before Blockbuster was renting video games, I used to bound over to the local corner shop to see if any of my games had been rented that night and then ponder over the rental price when the numbers were not to my satisfaction.
Then there was the secret nutrition startup #absnutrition in 2006, turning my garage/office into a warehousing unit after picking up the first production run. I'd drive all over the UK delivering protein powder, lets just say, that didn't last.
Hand labelling bags for production was a fun experience when we started #flavorartistry, we always made it into a competition! The first order we accepted from #myprotein was arguably too big for us...but we rolled up our sleeves and got it done!
At #asepticsolutions, 120 degrees outside but the juice had to stay below 40 degrees, many an hour spent with all the team packing boxes to speed up the process, many hands make light work!
Dry Ice! Try figuring that one out for a startup during a pandemic. Vicky Lai and I regularly at 11pm packed boxes for ecomm with our kids out of my garage, box, insulation, dry ice, ice cream, dry ice, flier, label, tape, repeat....i'm pretty sure the safety gloves I gave my 8 year old were the wrong size!
So yeah, good question, but the startup phase is fun. No one will ever care as much as you do, dont be afraid to just get stuck in and figure it out!
