What makes a public health campaign successful?

It’s national public health week! This week, we celebrate the role of collaboration, cooperation and partnerships in improving public health. Through collaborative cross-sector action, we’re working to foster an environment county-wide where the healthiest choices become the easiest, common, and most enjoyable choices so that every county resident can eat to thrive! As a collaborative hub and partner, we’re working to build a community where: 🌿 Healthcare providers are equipped and united to prevent, expand treatment options for, and/or reverse chronic disease by prioritizing nutrition and lifestyle's central role in health. 🌿 Direct service and community organizations, food access teams and policy makers are equipped with knowledge, resources and tools to prioritize access to foods and services that provide the most benefit to human health 🌿 Community members are met where they're at with employer supported programs that improve health and workplace cultures/systems and support and prioritize employee and customer health and well-being 🌿 Community members and families are equipped with the knowledge, know-how, encouragement, and community support to confidently make meaningful habit changes that improve health and lower risk of chronic disease. Together we can improve health outcomes, lower risk of chronic disease, lower healthcare and medical costs, improve healthcare provider and workforce well-being, improve patient satisfaction, and advance health equity and resilience. We all can play a role in promoting good health and well-being in our community. The Seventy-seventh World Health Assembly has adopted a groundbreaking resolution that emphasizes the importance of involving patients and communities in healthcare planning. Key points include: 🌍 Social Participation: Promoting public involvement to build trust and address health inequalities.  🚑 Emergency Care Strategy: Developing a global strategy for better emergency responses.  💚 Mental Health Support: Enhancing mental health services, especially during crises. 🎤 Watch Professor Lara Bloom, CNE speaking at the Geneva event hosted by IAPO and The Synergist about leveraging patient organizations for Universal Health Coverage. Lara, President & CEO of The Ehlers-Danlos Society, said: “We are so much more than patients. We recently saw an event discussing the state of the public health union. Is there a public health union? I see Public Health ( with a capital “P”, as I often call it) as an organization, department, or entity. There is also public health as literal public health (small “p”) in action, with individuals, communities, and populations. There are places of connection such as in a venn diagram, but small “p” public health often seems to be something else entirely. Although there are some unifying components, theories, and principles, there are points where we are not a united entity. So as we think about the state of a public health union, what are we referring to as public health? Departments or communities? Is Public Health willing to go beyond public health reporting, compliance, accreditation, and quality improvement from a distance, and provide more community support for grassroots public health in action?
