AI’s potential for positive change is undeniable, but caution is necessary. Concerns regarding responsible development, social impact, bias, and governance are crucial.
It was exciting and insightful to be part of a think tank comprising some of the most influential AI leaders in the Bay Area at the cerebral hub - Shack15. Thanks to Joe Boggio, Peter Leyden of Reinvent Futures, and other sponsors for hosting this timely event. It was great to reconnect with so many friends and industry luminaries. At the event with Josh Becker, California State Senator, Larry BrilliantJoe Boggio, R "Ray" Wang, and other leaders.
Walking away from the event, it is clear that despite headwinds and skepticism around the widespread adoption of AI, it holds distinct plausibility to positively impact the world in a non-linear fashion like never experienced before in recent years.
I continue to be excited and positive about many of the use cases we are currently working on to deploy conscientious and scalable AI in Healthcare and Life Sciences.

AI has the potential to transform lives and solve some of the world's most pressing problems, but only if it is developed with inclusivity and equity at its core.
We must begin to make better decisions in the development of new technologies. By actively including diverse communities, promoting ownership, and encouraging participation in AI innovation, we can build ways to provide every person on the planet with access to tools that bring them closer to their aspirations.
PJMF President Vilas Dhar, alongside Karen Mcluskie, David Olusoga, and Vivian Schiller, shared expert insights on creating AI to serve global needs. A future where technology fulfills human meaning and purpose is near, and we must make decisions based on how it can best serve humanity. Thank you Suzanna Queckbörner, PhD and Mattias Häggblom for this week #highlight inviting me to the Handelsbanken lunch-seminar series.
Shout out to Teodora Andonova, PhD for the connection! 💪
My messages:
1) #AI and #partnerships are impacting the core of #R&D, the #discoveries we make, the technologies we create.
2) Technology is King 🤴 in science - Data is still 🦍King Kong
3) Too early to predict if AI designed assets will have higher probability of Success. But: Time is linear, in silico is exponential.
4) AI-enabled drug discovery can bring more, new medicines to patients faster, enhancing the human experience and progress.
In an era where technological advancements are increasingly intersecting with the core of human experiences, the question of whether technology will complement or dominate humanity is more relevant than ever. Gil Bashe, Chair of Global Health and Purpose at FINN Partners, tackles this compelling issue at the 1ArtificialIntelligence 2024 Global AI Conference with his session, "AI Expectations: Technology Versus Humanity – Who Will Win?"
With a distinguished career that spans roles as a combat medic in an elite military unit, a lobbyist for global non-profits, and leadership in several of the world’s top health communication agencies, Bashe brings a nuanced perspective to the debate. His session promises to be a deep dive into the potential synergies and conflicts between AI advancements and human values, particularly in the realm of healthcare where he has significant expertise.
Bashe’s approach is rooted in a philosophy that sees technology and humanity not as competitors but as potential partners in crafting a future that enhances well-being. He advocates for a balanced perspective where AI is leveraged to amplify human potential without diminishing the human touch that is essential to areas like medicine, where empathy and understanding play critical roles.
Drawing on his extensive experience—from navigating the complexities of healthcare policies to spearheading initiatives that integrate technology into patient care—Bashe will explore how AI can be harnessed to improve health outcomes while still upholding ethical standards and ensuring that technology serves humanity, and not the other way around.
This discussion is particularly timely as the healthcare industry, among others, increasingly relies on AI for diagnostics, treatment planning, and patient management. The challenge lies in ensuring these technologies augment the human aspects of care rather than replace them. Bashe's insights will likely resonate with leaders seeking to navigate the delicate balance between innovation and integrity in the use of AI in their organizations.
Overall, the session aims to provide a roadmap for how industries can embrace AI's potential while keeping human values at the forefront, ensuring that as we advance technologically, we also progress in our capacity to care, empathize, and connect as humans.
