We're happy to help out as much as humanly possible, here are a few things: 1.) Make sure that you've updated your resumes with all of the latest and greatest performance metrics. Quota attainment, stack rank, TCV, etc. 2.) Make a list of 50 companies that think your background will align to. Target them. You're in sales. Sell yourself. You are the new product. You're wiser. You've been there before. Be confident and not cocky. Treat this job search NO differently than a deal. 3.) Target 4 department heads within the ideal companies that you want to reach out to. Utilize Linkedin Premium or Navigator and get a scrapper tool (apollo, lusha, signal hire, etc) for $60 a month and hit it hard. Aim high, be referred down. 4.) Don't be screwed out of paying 800-1K for a resume from some rando on the internet. If you are considering this, please reach out to me & I will send you to TRUSTED partners and friends of mine. 5.) I've been quiet about the #delltechnologies layoffs with so many friends impacted as I've seen the whole software and platform industry constrict as a whole over the past year. Millions of jobs lost across so many companies making the market even more challenging to those who have been forced to re-enter it. The stress of uncertainty, zero visibility to the next step to stability both of your family and yourself, having to potentially reinvent yourself to stand out in the crowd...the list goes on. I know this all too well as I've been part of 2 workforce reductions in my career and each one more stressful than the previous one. However, I will say this with the uttermost centainty: 1. You will grow in the ambiguity. Embrace the beautiful change that you are going through and you will start to see the opportunity. 2. Your network is your net worth. Harness it. Invest in it. Drive connections at a human level. It's OK to ask to be introduced to someone. It ok to ask to catch up. It's OK to ask to be referred. For example, the ex-dell community globally is incredibly strong. For those of us to spent time at #dell, we were trained in an intense discipline and rigor to succeed together. But it also created long lasting respect and lifelong friendships. Reach out to them. It's OK to ask for help with your next career. For those that have been impacted by the #layoffs, my network is here for you. For those of you who reached out to me on the basis of this post below, I hope I was helpful to get you where you needed to go. If I could be a bit bold to share some #tips and #tricks that helped me maintain my sanity and find my next role during my 2 workforce reductions; they are as follows: 1. Build your search framework. I have a very simple one I use called a 4UP. 4 squares on a piece of paper with each box resembling Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and more importantly Passion. Each role, company, vertical etc should ideally be closest to the center of your 4UP. Note: this isn't your dream job (if there is such a thing). This is your "drive the right balance and crush my next opportunity" type of job. if you would like me to send you my 4UP template, please ping me. 2. Don't apply all day. It's incredibly humbling, frustrating, humiliating etc etc...pick your feeling. Ghosting is a given, jobs are often frozen at the source yet refreshed on job sites as new and depression from applying in a broken system of submitting 1001 variations of your resume is real. Be decisive with your time. Block out a few hours each day for this and spend the rest doing things you love. It's easier said than done but this is precious time for you that you will never get back. Enjoy it. 3. Be prepared to move if the right opportunity comes along. Now, this is a sensitive topic as not everyone can move. I get it. But if there's anything I learned living for 15 years in #austintx is that the jobs by seniority are pyramidal. Higher you go, fewer they are and more importantly, less likely to be advertised. #austintx is still a small town compared to other cities like #newyork or #LA or #chicago so its worth thinking about if the right role no longer sits in your city. 32,000 tech layoffs in 2024 so far (sending my support).... 😰 Some of the most affected departments were HR, Marketing, and Engineering. I'm NOT surprised that Sales wasn't affected as much. In my experience, Sales tends to weather these storms more effectively. Why? Because they're often what I call "close to the money" – responsible for bringing in revenue to the company. This is why Sales is considered the backbone of any organization.
