Last week, Rep. Steel (R-CA) introduced the Expanding Language Access in Telehealth Act with Reps Susie Lee (D-NV) and Gus Bilirakis (R-FL). The legislation is complimentary to Rep. Steel's H.R. 6033, SPEAK Act, and directs Secretary Becerra to develop best practices to improve language access for patients with Limited English Proficiency, specifically when seeking behavioral health care via video-based or audio-only telehealth. The Expanding Language Access in Telehealth Act was included in Senate Finance's Better Mental Health Care, Lower-Cost Drugs, and Extenders Act. It's great to see bipartisan bicameral work being done to improve access to health care. #telehealth #healthcare

Healthcare leader | Chairman of the Board of Directors of Egypt Healthcare Authority | Driving Transformation of the future of healthcare in Egypt through leading Universal health coverage program
#HealthDialogueMondays: Shining a Light on #DeafBlind Awareness Week Last week marked the DeafBlind Awareness Week (June 23rd - June 30th), I'm deeply inspired by the resilience and achievements of the deafblind community. The Helen Keller National Center for Deaf-Blind Youths and Adults (#HKNC) notes that 2024's theme focused on the "diverse journeys and shared aspirations" of people who have both combined hearing and vision loss. The It underscores the importance of inclusive healthcare access for this often-overlooked population. - Unique Challenges Require Unique Solutions: #Deafblind individuals face significant #hurdles in accessing healthcare services due to #communication_barriers and a lack of #awareness among #healthcareproviders. Traditional methods of communication may not be effective, and healthcare settings can be #overwhelming due to visual and auditory stimuli. The Question of Accessibility: How can we, as healthcare professionals and advocates, work together to improve health access for the deafblind community? Here are some initial thoughts: - Empowering Deafblind patients: Encouraging self-advocacy skills and providing resources on accessible healthcare services. - Training healthcare providers: Raising awareness about deafblindness and fostering effective communication techniques, potentially through sign language interpreters or specialized communication tools. - Technology as a bridge: Leveraging advancements in telemedicine and assistive technologies to overcome communication and mobility challenges. - Building a Network: Encouraging collaboration between healthcare professionals, deafblind organizations, and advocacy groups to develop targeted solutions. Let's spark a conversation! Share your thoughts in the comments below. What creative solutions can we implement to ensure equitable access to healthcare for the deafblind community? By working together, we can break down barriers and create a healthcare system that truly serves everyone. #DeafblindAwarenessWeek #HealthcareEquity #Accessibility #PatientAdvocacy #HealthForAll

We help physical therapists build great partnerships that lead to community impact and caseload growth 🚀 But not all partnerships are created equal. So what makes a truly great partnership? Why partnerships matter 👉 Diverse lead sources are integral to developing sustainable, consistent caseloads that are filled with your ideal clients. They allow you to dive deeply within communities of interest and solve big, meaningful problems for the members. Qualities of a great partnership: 🤝 Mutual Respect: The best partnerships are based on mutual respect. We know that together we’re stronger and can have a bigger impact on our patients lives. 🤩 Enthusiastic Engagement: Sharing success stories in MovementX classes, newsletters, and on the website help to drive more awareness. Coaches and owners can’t wait to tell everyone about your amazing services. 📅 Showing Up Consistently: Showing up consistently to participate in classes, social events, workshops and more shows your commitment to the community and builds trust. And here’s why partnerships matter from a business perspective: 📥 Lead Generation: Quality partnerships can grow caseloads and help raving fans turn into other referrals. 🛋️ Decreased Travel: Having a partner location can decrease travel time between clients allowing providers to condense their schedules to make space for living their best, thriving life. 🫶 Deeper Relationships: Partnerships allow you to dive more deeply into building relationships beyond just clinical. Becoming a part of the community can be fulfilling beyond the treatment table. We’re growing our team of thriving and empowered physical therapists. Want to learn more? New article: Perceptions of GIM therapists transitioning from in-person GIM sessions to online platforms during Covid-19 restriction By Denise Grocke and Katrina McFerran Read it here: https://lnkd.in/ehECkpMx #GuidedImagery #music #bonny #therapists #GIM ------------ Abstract In March 2020, when COVID-19 was declared a pandemic, therapists were required to make the transition from in-person, face-to-face sessions with clients to online telehealth sessions. The challenges for therapists practising The Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music were particularly difficult. This study was conceived to understand how GIM therapists managed the transition and how they perceived the differences of in-person and online sessions. Seven therapists, all female, living and working in Australia completed in-depth interviews in June 2022 about each element of the session, and a thematic analysis identified grand themes and subordinate themes. Results show that there was a dislocation of physical, personal and therapy space online, with absent cues and missed opportunities for caregiving. Rapport was established online and the therapeutic process developed, but the components of the GIM session were not the same, and the transition for the therapist was challenging. Findings indicate that online GIM sessions may provide greater opportunity and immediacy for people to have therapy and experience GIM, but in-person GIM may provide greater safety and greater depth of experience. Limitations and future research recommendations are presented.

Physical Therapist turned Healthcare Recruiter | Partnering with Healthcare Teams to Find Top Talent | Recruiting Therapists, Nurses & Leadership
Moving fast to hire new Physical Therapists alone isn’t going to cut it in 2024. You’ve got to be competitive. Sure, in 2023, speed to hire was a large component to the hiring game. But in 2024, PTs have options. A plethora of options. And having options means multiple offers. Every. Single. Time. Having multiple options also means the likelihood of a clinician moving only for a job or excessively commuting for a job is slim. Unless… there’s a reason. Clinics, Facilities & Organizations who are able to win the talent war are competitive. Competitive in their pay, benefits, schedule, mentorship programs, patient caseload etc. Plus, possessing a great culture is also a make or break. You don’t necessarily need to win 100% of the above items, but you certainly can’t afford to be at the bottom of every single category. In 2024, if your ducks aren’t in a row and you aren’t on your “hiring A game”, your competition will be.
