Breastfeeding may seem instinctive but many mothers experience uncertainty and concerns due to social media influences, well-intentioned friends and family members, and past experiences. On today's episode we will touch on successful milk production and transfer when breastfeeding.

A great compilation by UNICEF!! The transformations of pregnancy and motherhood can often magnify self-image. Many women discover a new physical empowerment, but others are left feeling a quiet misery of unattractiveness. There’s no doubt, though, that most of us would change something about ourselves in an instant. It’s easy to think that other women are managing postpartum changes better than we are. The reality is that no matter how we feel about our bodies yesterday, now, or tomorrow, there are millions of women around us feeling exactly the same way. Mothers post on social media about their frustrations with their postpartum bodies. Their comments range from humorous resignation about their “tiger stripes” and “wobbly” bellies to dark depression and self-loathing. Here are two other myths that often gets relegated to the backseat. 1) Breastfeeding makes your breast's sag or change shape. Reality is that age, gravity, pregnancy, weight gain or loss, and genetics have more effect on breast appearance than breastfeeding. 2) Small breast's don't product as much milk as large ones. Positioning your baby to breastfeed 🤱 You may have heard people talking about the importance of good positioning and attachment when breastfeeding. But what does it mean?! 🤷♀️ Positioning refers to how the baby is held by you in order to breastfeed effectively! 🤱 There are certain commonly used positions that you may have heard by name 🤔 🌟Cradle hold 🌟Cross cradle hold 🌟Rugby Ball hold 🌟Laidback hold/Biological nurturing position But these aren’t the only options. All of these different ways of holding your baby are aiming for the same things and if you can find other ways of achieving these, then go ahead (and give it a fun name while you’re at it like…the meerkat position….or the ‘trying to eat my cereal but baby has other ideas’ position) 🥣 Key positioning aims 🔑 📍 Baby being close to you - with no room for a hand to get between your bodies - 🙌Baby’s hands don’t need to be restricted.
