Interesting facts and figures - IT/ITES industry is growing rapidly in Kolkata. A significant pool of the talent in this domain is from Bengal. Post pandemic large organizations have taken a strategy to open their campus in Kolkata to retain those talents. Tale of two cities. A story of power cuts. And contrast. The first city Bangalore. Has always said. Solpa adjest maadi. 30 years have gone by for me. Still adjest maadi. Not something new. I have experienced this since 1995. For all the development. Expansion. And sprawling but choked infrastructure. This problem remains. The second city. Kolkata. Back in the 80s and 90s in Kolkata. Where 3 -4 hour power cuts were everyday phenoms. Hand fans, candle lit homework hours and sweat filled sleepless nights were the norm. Cut to now. Zero power cuts. Almost. Yet in terms of development as a city. Living in the nostalgia. Almost. Apart from the blue washing and the local dada’s which are a constant there. Folks might say. There is no business or factories or development. Which is why. Could be. But look at CESC. Privatised power enterprise. And probably the best customer service I have experienced. Right from calls to execution. Try doing that with BESCOM. Kick backs and hacks are all you get. Power is a basic need now. Or is it we now have to build our own power plants like Gurgaon? To call ourselves developed?

Gurgaon is the new Mumbai of India because of two simple reasons: 1) Traffic situation is not getting easy with each passing day and heavy traffic congestion on NH-48 has become a part of morning ritual for commuters within the city 2) Real estate prices in Gurgaon have been climbing ever since pandemic got over and this trend is not expected to stall anytime in the near future #gurgaonisnewmumbai #ilovegurgaon
