An interesting article from JLL APAC team talking about the urgent need for the AI readiness of Data Centre real estate. Today's data centres are simply not ready to inherit rack loads of up to 100kW and beyond that will be demanded by NVIDIA #AI clusters. Data Centres will have to undergo fundamental design change and structural updates to accommodate AI workloads says Celina Chua “These modifications must cater to the increased power consumption, floor loading, and heat generation associated with higher rack densities.” Balancing this with the adoption of liquid cooling technologies to tackle the rising densities, new regulations and simply finding suitable powered land in core and new markets to fulfill the incredible GW's of demand, we are in for a very interesting and exciting ride. #hyperscale #ai #colocation #energyefficiency #sustainability #lifeison

#Datacenter In the next few years, with the popularization of new technologies such as 5G and AI, the demand for data center construction will continue to grow. Data center workload volumes are on an unprecedented growth trajectory, and the proliferation of generative AI solutions is expected to exacerbate these challenges. As the demand for AI in various businesses grows rapidly, companies are facing pressure to adjust their operations. However, some old data centers have backward configurations and cannot meet the widespread deployment of high-heat-density computing infrastructure, and old computer rooms generally lack the basic conditions required for advanced cooling systems. More and more companies will realize that simple partial transformation of computer rooms cannot meet business needs, and they need to choose to build new data centers, and tend to adopt prefabricated and modular solutions with short deployment cycles, or directly carry out overall transformation, fundamentally Changes in power and cooling infrastructure. The data center industry will face multiple challenges in 2024, but with these challenges come opportunities for transformative solutions.

“In a recent white paper, Schneider Electric notes that 95% of AI capacity now lives in the core of the network, in data centers and HPC facilities. Over the next five years, Schneider projects that AI capacity will become more distributed, as the need for distributed inference shifts 50% of workloads to edge data centers.” #DataCenter #IndustryTrends #DataCenterIndustry #AI
