Thanks to the generous support of our community, Boss Women Matter (BWM) Round Table Talks have become a vital resource for Black women founders in Chicagoland. These open dialogues are a lifeline for Black women founders and serve as a cornerstone for community building, policy advocacy, and capacity building. While substantial progress has been made, the journey to economic equality for Black women founders remains challenging. Despite persistent systemic funding disparities to underrepresentation, our expanding community of founders is steadfast in their commitment to overcoming these barriers and creating a more equitable economic landscape.   Never before has our work been more critical. Can we talk about Jotaka Eaddy, Founder of #WinWithBlackWomen and the impact of starting your own business? I am inspired by the momentum I have been witnessing since last night and the impact of 44,000 Black Women jumping on a Zoom and raising over 1.5 Million for Kamala Harris' campaign. But I am most impressed by the impact of using your talents, skills, and natural GIFTS to impact the world. Go Jotaka! Start those side hustles!!!

I have always had a profound interest in equity and social justice. Raised by activists who instilled in me the belief in equality, I never let my gender define my capabilities. Embracing diversity, I learned to value individuals for who they are without prejudice towards gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or other factors. In higher education, we continue to focus fundraising efforts on males. Let's pause and think about the impact of women in philanthropy.
