Taking the time to self develop. With the job hunt and interviews providing coding tests, I started to dedicate some time after work and during weekends for self development. This is split three-ways between solving coding questions, working on an exciting personal project and applying for new opportunities as I near the count-down to my UK visa starting to expire. At the start I found Leetcode and Codility questions to be quite a challenge, a feat I would never conquer. I would NEED to Google answers to figure out how people think that way and convince myself that I can't start breaking down these issues within the time limit provided. Within less than a month, I started doing one every two days while needing Google, then one every day and now two a day easily and I feel much more confident! Albeit they are the easy questions and I am sure after I grasp more concepts and jump onto the more difficult questions I will get stumped again but it just shows putting the time in is always worth it. What challenge are you trying to overcome and what are you doing to get a step closer to that? :)

Author of Architecting ASP.NET Core Applications: An Atypical Design Patterns Guide for .NET 8, C# 12, and Beyond | Software Craftsman | Principal Architect | .NET/C# | AI
🍁Happy Canada Day, everyone!🍁 Today is a different post where I share a part of my journey with you—a path filled with non-traditional learning and growth. My path wasn't traditional—I wrote my first line of code at 8, hacking HTML and JavaScript in the 90s as a teenager; I dropped out of high school but later earned my degree in adult education. I completed a one-year professional web development diploma. After that, I built software professionally using ASP/VBScript and .NET/VB.NET, then soon transitioned to C# and never looked back. Freelancing became my next adventure, and I focused on .NET, ASP.NET, and C#. For over a decade, I served clients while constantly learning and evolving. Along the way, I completed a part-time bachelor's degree in computer science, taught programming at college, and conducted enterprise training. In 2013, I created my GitHub account, using GitHub for Education (the early days of that fantastic program) for teaching from 2014 to 2017. By 2017, I launched my current blog and started to develop in the open with my first few open-source projects. I began blogging about 20 years ago, and although I blog less now, I've written three books and am currently active on LinkedIn. 📚Self-education was a necessity in my career since I too often ended up the senior on the team.📚 💡My journey taught me invaluable lessons: - School is not for everyone, so don't let that stop you. - Embracing continuous learning is the key to long-term growth. - Self-learning is challenging but incredibly rewarding. - Teaching others enhances your own skills. - Sharing knowledge fosters mutual growth. - Humility and patience go a long way. 🌟Over the decades, my allies have been side projects, prototypes, experiments, books, and those who supported me. Remember, every project is an opportunity to grow.🌟 🚀 Keep pushing the boundaries of what's possible, and keep learning!🚀 💬Feel free to share part of your journey or some of your own takeaways in the comments! 🍁Happy Canada Day!🍁 #CanadaDay #DotNet #TechJourney #ContinuousLearning #CodingLife #GitHub #GitHubEducation #Growth

I help successful visionary entrepreneurs bring innovation to reality without the burden of navigating complex software development | Microsoft-Certified | Ex-Infosys
🚀 MY FIRST WEBSITE EVER (A Tale of Tenacity) 🚀 🌐 Networking has always been my secret weapon in the world of tech, and here's why: 📚 After my first year at university, I realized the importance of staying connected. So, I joined the University CS Groupchat. 🕒 Fast forward to my second year, I found myself stuck in a job I despised – security shifts. Long hours, night shifts, and constant discrimination were taking a toll on me. 💡 Desperate for a way out, I turned to the library, devouring programming books to find my path. 📲 One day, a game-changing message popped up in our group chat: "A member of the university business team seeks CS students for EU government contracts." 🙌 I wasted no time. I made plans to visit the university the next day, and astonishingly, out of 40 students, only one other person joined me. 💼 That moment transformed my life. I secured a contract to build a website for a local travel agency. I was supposed to have university mentorship, but that never materialized. No worries – I was ready to take the plunge. 👔 Suited up, I met the client. Her only instruction: "Copy and paste what you see online." I hadn't discovered WordPress, so I had to code everything from scratch. 💡 I conceptualized a site where she could list holidays, complete with login, registration, and forgotten password pages. I was working 12-hour days, grappling with HTML, CSS, JS, PHP, and MySQL – learning on the fly. 😅 The journey wasn't smooth. The client couldn't see progress and accused me of wasting her time. Yet, I persevered, learning valuable lessons every step of the way. 💰 In the end, I earned £3k and more importantly, priceless experience. It laid the foundation for my career today, and I'll forever be grateful for that opportunity. 🚀 If you're seeking a software engineer who can bring clarity, help drive revenue, and craft amazing websites, don't hesitate to reach out. Let's connect and create something incredible! 💬👨💻 #SoftwareEngineering #WebDevelopment #Networking #SuccessStory #NeverGiveUp

Software Alchemist: Crafting Scalable Mobile and Web Magic || Graphic Designer: Crafting Visual Magic || Electrical Engineer (in View)
🚀 My Journey in Tech: From Novice to Aspiring Developer 👋 Hi, LinkedIn community! I’m Ovie Nathaniel, a passionate software developer and graphics designer. 🎨💻 Where It All Began: About 4yrs ago, I embarked on this exhilarating journey with no prior knowledge of software development. The world of code seemed like an enigma, but curiosity fueled my determination. It started from when I saw a billboard with a list of computer related skill listed on it. I paused when I saw web development while reading downwards. From there I made enquiries and made my own research and that was how it all began. I was already into design before I started this journey but I will focus more on my software development journey in this post. The journey hasn't been easy but I'm glad of where I am as at now. I started with frontend web development and paused for about a year and half because I really had to fully focus on school. Coming back from this break, I dived into backend development using Node.js, building scalable web applications that could handle thousands of concurrent users. The thrill of solving complex problems kept me going, even during those late-night debugging sessions. 🕵️♂️ I also had the opportunity to join 3MTT Nigeria cohort 1. This was what really gave me a boost. I learnt ReactJs and Backend development from the training that was offered. I was also awarded a Laptop device making my journey more easier on the backend. The only thing that keeps me going is the magic of turning lines of code into functional, user-friendly experiences. It’s the joy of creating something that impacts people’s lives—whether it’s a seamless mobile app or a stunning visual design. 🌈 Looking Ahead: As I seek internship opportunities, I’m excited to contribute my skills to innovative projects. I believe in continuous learning, collaboration, and pushing boundaries. Let’s connect and explore new horizons together! 🌐 🔗 Connect with me: Ovie Nathaniel Remember, every line of code you write is a step toward your dreams. Keep coding, keep creating, and keep inspiring! 💪✨

QUESTION ❓ ❓ Who is in the developer world and does not have a college degree? 👩💻 How serious is the Bachelor's Degree requirement for most companies in this industry?? 🤔 I have completed a Full Stack Coding program, but in my search for a job I am finding that most places are requiring a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. I do not have either of those things, but I am more than ready to get started in a career in my field! I am looking into getting a Bachelor's degree as it's been incredibly difficult to find work as a junior developer. There are a few colleges I have found that offer accelerated programs which would allow me to complete this in (hopefully) a timely manner. I have completed some college courses about 10 years ago that could be transferred but not many. In order to obtain this degree, I would also need a scholarship or grant as funds for this are extremely limited. I would appreciate any feedback!! Thanks! 🙂
