#RaiseYourFlag 🇵🇭 A Win for One is a Celebration for All! 🥳 Two-Time Olympic 🥇🥇Medalist- Carlos Yulo Recently, my country celebrated as we bagged 2 Gold Olympic Medals in Gymnastics 🤸♂️ . This young man made it looks smooth and easy. Though we know that every biggest achievement there is, it requires mental discipline backed with strong determination. You see, that’s what separates the good from the great. And that’s the difference of an Elite Athlete. Before winning the Olympic Gold Medal, Carlos Yulo had to go through winning 5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ different medals from different competitions. And if I may quote from #Milo, “Great things start from small beginnings.” Think of it the next time you see someone winning in whatever field. Before they reach the pinnacle of success, it’s not a walk in the park. There is no short cut to success. If there is, surely it won’t last. It’s a process that a person needs to understand what they will do on their losing days, how they keep their feet on the ground during their winning days, the discipline they instill during their lazy days, and how they will stand up again for every fall. It’s a constant work of what you do with your weakness and how you make the most of your strength it. That is what “Forte” means. One develops it over time. Hence, almost always, copying and imitating never win in life. Start discovering what you are and what you are not. After all, a long journey begins with a single step. With the Paris Olympics coming to a close, we wanted to share three great moments from the games to inspire your own Strengths Stacking. 💪 🥇Simone Biles We loved watching the gymnastics GOAT, Simone Biles, prepare for her floor routine in the team final and say to herself, “You got this.” Strengths Stacking is all about being able to confidently remind yourself that “you got this” and to know it’s true because you have stacked up the evidence. 🥈The Bouldering Competition The bouldering has been amazing to watch this year and a great example of the importance of preparedness. As the athletes only see the wall for the first time when they come out, they have to trust all the different skills, techniques, flexibility and strength they have stacked up in training, and turn to them in solving the challenge of getting to the top. 🥉Keegan Palmer We read an article about how Australian skateboarder Keegan Palmer drew on what other’s thought of him to help him regain his confidence in the Olympics final at Paris. 𝗧𝗼𝗸𝘆𝗼 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟬: 119 athletes, 7 medals. 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝘀: 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: India excelled in shooting, winning 3 medals, best ever tally in shooting 𝗪𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴: Maintained its track record with 1 medal. 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱: As expected 1 medal. 𝗛𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘆: Secured back-to-back bronze medals, marking a significant achievement given the sport’s historical ups and downs in India. The "Pommel Horse Guy" helped the USA Men's Gymnastics Team win a medal for the first time in 16 years and could be looking at brand deals due to his newfound internet stardom. 🏅🤸♂️ Stephen Nedoroscik has gone viral for wearing glasses during his sole event in gymnastics, the pommel horse. Nedoroscik was put on the five-member U.S. Olympic team because he’s so good at that event. His selection came as a surprise to many gymnastics fans, who questioned the sanity of USA Gymnastics in banking on a specialist who only competes on one of the six events in men’s gymnastics. The pressure didn't get to Nedoroscik, though, who waited 2.5 hours for his turn to mount the pommel. ⏳👓 What Nedoroscik did while waiting is now the stuff of internet legend. Snaps of him with his head back, eyes closed, glasses on, and seemingly dozing have become a meme. But Nedoroscik was just in full preparation mode. What's the best sport to live longer? A 2018 study by The Copenhagen City Heart Study (CCHS) followed 8,577 people over 25 years and found that playing certain sports increased life expectancy. Researchers looked at a mix of sports, including tennis, badminton, soccer, cycling, swimming, running, and calisthenics. They found every sport increased life expectancy, with one sport adding almost a decade to the average player’s life span. Did you win the gold? First- I don’t know about you, but I love the Olympics. I love the events. Getting caught up in the stories of overcoming and adversity. Talent, work ethic, teamwork, all of it. This is one period of the year that I find myself in front of the tv. A lot. Rugby, handball, gymnastics, cycling, triathlon, track and field, kayaking, rowing, swimming. I have truly enjoyed it so far. But how about the US men’s gymnastics team? How about their celebration for winning bronze? There are many gold medal winners that look like they expected it when they win. Expectations can be good, but what about when you achieve them? Ok. I did what I expected. Move along. No celebration. Or very little. Because you expected it. But the US men’s gymnastics team? That was a celebration. That was overcoming. That was unbridled joy. It was so fun to watch! They put their hearts and souls out there and let the chips fall where they may. And they accomplished a HUGE goal! And they relished the moment. And my question for you today- What do you need to celebrate? Are you just going through life full of expectations for yourselves and others? Where is the joy in that? What if instead you really celebrated something? Even making it through a week or a day is worthy of a celebration! Don’t put so much pressure on yourself. Just show up. Do your absolute best. Not all Heroes wear capes. This is Stephen Nedoroscik, member of the U.S. Men's Olympic Gymnastics team, and now a viral sensation. Stephen's heroics on the Pommel Horse earned the U.S. Men's Gymnastics team their first Olympic medal (Bronze) in 16 years and there are so many beautiful lessons to take away from this moment. The key ones for me are split between the team and the individual. 1) Teams are comprised of individuals who contribute in different ways, whom all add value in their different arenas. Simply put, but not so simply executed, as members of a team, we need to embrace people's strengths and learn to harness them in order to achieve the team's goals. 2) As individuals, be confident in yourself, ensure that you are prepared and ready for your moment, and when the time comes, Pommel that horse 😂 (execute to perfection). Be proud that you are a specialist in a specific genre and shine bright within that area. I encourage all of you, if you haven't already, take some time and watch/research Stephen's moment. It is a reminder that there is greatness all around us. Lastly, Stephen is one example of heroism taking place within these Olympic Games, however, they exist in every event and every athlete competing in Paris. This year, for the first time, I found myself deeply engrossed in the 2024 Olympics, especially in the events where India was vying for medals. From hockey to badminton, javelin throw, swimming, and tennis—it was a powerful reminder of the infinite capabilities of the human body. Some performances were truly exceptional, like Katie Ledecky's incredible achievement of winning a gold medal in the 800m freestyle for the fourth consecutive time. Yet, even at this level, with the world's best athletes performing under the global spotlight, mistakes were a common thread. Neeraj Chopra, who became the fourth Indian to win two Olympic medals in individual sport—faced significant challenges. Out of 12 finalists, he was the only one with 5 foul attempts out of 6. Despite this, he still managed to secure a silver medal. Watching his throws, it was easy to question: How can an athlete of his caliber make such errors? But the real takeaway is that even with mistakes, he achieved what he set out for—a medal. We all make mistakes—whether it’s poor judgment, unintended oversight, or wrong decisions—and often find ourselves dwelling on them. But these athletes have reminded me that mistakes are an inevitable part of life. The agility to recalibrate and quickly adapt—what I call the "Best Response Function"—is what truly shapes our future, not the mistakes themselves.
