Our modern lifestyles are indeed a double-edged sword, offering convenience at the cost of our brain health. Sensory overload, underpinned by our obsession with multitasking, fragments our focus and diminishes cognitive performance. Could deliberate digital detoxes and mindful media consumption be our sanctuary? Face-to-face interactions, though diminished by digital surrogates, are essential for neuronal growth and mental well-being. Should we prioritize real conversations over virtual ones? Lastly, protecting our hearing is crucial, yet often neglected. How might we integrate hearing protection into our daily health routines? #BrainHealth #DigitalDetox #NeuroscienceInsights

1 Key Point: Prioritize spending time with people face-to-face. I WhatsApp people regularly too but as a Psychologist, I understand that building a community of friends requires face to face meetups and communication as well. Schedule time to meet your friends over the weekend! "Inside Out 2" or "How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies" are two movies that you can watch together. What are your thoughts about "How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies?" I will be sharing on the Thai movie next Sun, 21 July, 3 pm to 5 pm over Zoom. I would like to hear your thoughts and questions! Sign up here: https://lnkd.in/gU5Uyf-M

Your brain is your biggest asset, but I'd be willing to bet you spend less time actively taking care of it than you should. We get regular oil changes, change the filters in our furnaces, and likely try to eat healthily and/or go to the gym. But do you spend dedicated time on your brain health? It's a bit more difficult to quantify, for sure. Sure, we can measure the process of journaling or meditation, but it isn't easy to measure the "strength" or "ROI" outcome. Honestly, there is no real point to this post other than, perhaps, a mental reframe. Consider your brain the biggest asset you have and work to keep it healthy.

Chronic stress can have profound effects on the brain, particularly on the hippocampus, which is responsible for memory and learning. Research suggests that high stress levels over a prolonged period can lead to shrinkage of the hippocampus. This shrinkage may result in memory impairment and difficulties in learning and retaining information. Additionally, chronic stress can also contribute to other cognitive issues and increase the risk of developing mental health disorders such as depression and anxiety. It's essential to manage stress through techniques like mindfulness, exercise, and seeking support from loved ones or professionals. Prioritizing stress reduction can help protect the hippocampus and preserve cognitive function for overall brain health. #brainhealth #exercise #healthylifestyle
