The 1st day of the The Future of Higher Education Institutions Forum organised by Royal Academy of Management in collaboration with MoHERI was incredible! Great gathering from the higher education sector both private and public, rich discussions, learning from the past, present and wide range of examples from around the world, well-curated sessions and hands-on engaging workshops. Time has flown by so quickly, and the gain was tremendous. Looking forward for the 2nd day of this forum. Lessons Learned: 💡Disruption in higher education is not just coming; it's already here! Now is time to Act, Adapt, and Adopt. 💡Future models of HEIs and how HEIs and the private sector can collaborate for impactful innovation and elevated competitiveness. 💡History does not repeat itself, but it often rhymes.

"Your surroundings shape who you become." This motto passed down from my parents to me who put in their utmost effort to ensure that I have access to quality education, healthcare, nutritious food, and a safe living environment. In order to express my gratitude, I put my best abilities to maximize my potential in learning and socializing with my peers. Under these circumstances, I will give my all to learn and grow while being Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) awardee at University of Malaya. Enrolling in IISMA by any means is not an easy journey, I personally discovered the IISMA program sometime before the enrollment period ends. This means I have little to no time to prepare essays, documents, while also exercising for the English test. At first, I was skeptical about registering since this was my first experience joining a scholarship. But, with the support of my parents, teachers, and friends, I am able to muster my confidence to submit my scholarship application. In such a short amount of time, I learned many valuable things to achieve a scholarship. Here are the things I wish I knew about applying scholarships: 1. Do your research. 2. Prepare relevant documents. 3. Seek Guidance and Support. 4. Prepare yourself mentally. As an IISMA awardee, I aim to make positive change, sustainable innovation, and contribute to the development of my community and nation.  ✨ A Journey of Growth and Courage ✨ I first heard about the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards when one of my lecturers suggested that I challenge myself to apply for the scholarship program held by the Kementrian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan. I am very grateful for all the support and opportunity to be one of the IISMA Awardees. Looking back at the selection process I went through, I learned a lot along the way and these are some vulnerable lessons I gained through this experience: 1. Courage is essential for personal growth.  Having courage often leads to new experiences and opportunities that might not have been possible without taking that first bold step. 2. Time management is crucial. Balancing academic responsibilities, the scholarship application process, and personal commitments taught me the importance of prioritizing tasks and managing my time effectively. It’s a skill that not only helped me during the application process but will continue to be valuable throughout my academic and professional life. 3. Be confident in your abilities. Throughout the process, self-doubt can creep in, but believing in your own potential and staying confident in your achievements is key. Confidence helped me present my best self in interviews and essays; it also played a crucial role in my successful acceptance into the IISMA program. Now, two weeks are left before I start my journey as an awardee at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology ☺. "Solo Success: How I Conquered IISMA in One Night" When I, Fathurrahman, decided to apply for the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA), I knew it would be a challenging process, especially without a mentor. What made it even more difficult was balancing my responsibilities at Polibatam, where I hold a leadership position in one of the campus organizations. On top of that, I was deeply involved in project-based learning (PBL) and other demanding academic work. Despite these pressures, I was determined to tackle the application on my own, confident that my unique experiences and self-reliance could see me through. The night before the deadline, with my organizational and academic responsibilities weighing heavily on me, I finally sat down to write my essay. The pressure was immense, but I drew strength from the various challenges I had faced, both in my personal life and in managing my commitments. I knew that my story was powerful because it was real, shaped by the grit and determination required to juggle multiple roles. Despite the exhaustion, I focused on creating an essay that highlighted my growth, resilience, and adaptability—traits that I had honed through my leadership and PBL experiences. To my delight, my essay resonated with the IISMA selection committee, and I was accepted into the program. This experience taught me that with determination, resourcefulness, and a strong belief in oneself, it’s possible to achieve great things—even when faced with overwhelming responsibilities. My journey to IISMA was a testament to the power of self-reliance and the strength that comes from trusting in your own story, no matter how complex or challenging it may be. From Aspiration to Achievements: Dreams Do Come True A long time ago while i was 18, seeing people who achieve such a great scholarship like IISMA (Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards Kementrian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan) seems impossible for me to achieve, yet very pleasing to my eye. Since then i had been very excited to become a 4th semester student so that i could apply for this scholarship. My journey to become one of the IISMA Awardees has been remarkable, with numerous obstacles and victories. My motivation came from my desire to gain broader education outside of my own country. Along the journey, I faced several challenges, from navigating the rigorous application procedures to competing with an overwhelming number of other exceptional applicants. My ability to persevere was put to the test during the journey, especially when I had to clearly express my passion and aims in order to prepare essays and interviews. One of the most difficult obstacles was reconciling my academic duties with the rigorous preparation necessary for the scholarship. There were times of uncertainty, but my drive to complete this task kept me going. I received guidance from mentors and peers, who gave helpful insights and encouragement. Finally, after months of hard work and effort, I was awarded the IISMA scholarship. The moment I heard the news was unexpected, and I felt a profound feeling of accomplishment. This opportunity to study at the University of York is not just a personal achievement but also a testament to the power of persistence and the belief that with hard work, dreams can indeed come true. Farewell to International Baccalaureate...  This marks the end of a ten-year adventure, which has been exhausting and instructive, requiring much struggle and patience. I would like to bid farewell to the IB ecosystem, from which I professionally departed some time ago. This was marked by the 17th IB Day held at Yeditepe Üniversitesi, hosted by Istek Schools on December 2, 2023. During the discussion of various topics in this organization, I found the presentation titled 'Do International Programmes Improve the Quality of Learning?' by Prof. Dr. Eren Ceylan to be crucially successful in interpreting the data. In the following processes, particularly in measuring, interpreting, and evaluating the effectiveness of the achievements of this ecosystem in higher education, it is crucial to determine the roadmap and increase learning efficiency.  While the event was generally successful, it is natural for various problems to arise in such large organizations. As a registered participant, I encountered issues at the entrance gate as I did not have a QR code. Consequently, I had to visit the registration desk to obtain my name badge. Unfortunately, my printed name badge did not include the name of the institution I have been working for, possibly due to my individual registration. As a result, I was unable to participate in the raffles due to the lack of a QR code. Finally, I completed the questionnaire form sent via email but was unable to submit it due to technical issues with the 'submit' button. As a result, I was unable to receive a certificate of participation. I would appreciate it if these issues could be addressed to ensure the efficiency of future organizations. Please note that these are not complaints, but rather constructive feedback. As previously mentioned, although I am no longer professionally involved in the IB ecosystem, I attended this event to stay informed about current issues. However, this was the last IB event I attended and it became an unforgettable memory. Nonetheless, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who contributed to the organization and wish them continued success. This fantastic experience was my journey of personal and professional growth.
