Very glad to join my friends MOS Rahayu Mahzam & Mr Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim, as well as inspiring keynote speaker SYUKRI Azman and energetic moderator Humaira Safiya Mohd Helmi at the YOUth@M³ Networking Session 2024 organised by Team Yayasan MENDAKI at Google Singapore. Syuk's pointers on growing personal networks are more important than ever, even with modern #AI. Even in an era of #ChatGPT and #GenAI, the tech cannot substitute for face-to-face connections, and the synergy that comes from linking up our networks across different experiences and backgrounds. Had a great chat with Linee Umairah who is in the molecular biology field and studying the biology of intermittent fasting — this is relevant to health, and has potential applications in therapeutics. She was with her friend Yuselisha Zulkiffeli whose research on super-hydrophobic materials (e.g. how does plant pollen repel water so well?) can be applied to microscopic drug delivery systems in novel medications. Linee & Yuselisha are 2 friends, whose expertise might one day start a pharma company — and maybe Mr Zhulkarnain or one of his young lawyer mentees can be the company legal counsel for a future IPO! Met up too with Noer Rassyiddean (Dean) who stays in the #Clementi vicinity too — we got to chat about the days when West Coast Plaza was Ginza Plaza, and how West Coast and Clementi have changed over the years. Also got to meet young Arif, who's still in primary school but learning how to use VR / AR goggles that allow for remote telepresence — his family and a number of us were trying on these gadgets. Those of us who grew up before the days of VR / AR found it tricky to adjust, but Arif took to the goggles much more readily! Big thank you once again to the #MENDAKI #RaikanIlmu team, including ZURAIDAH ABDULLAH, Dr Noraslinda Zuber (IHRP-SP), Siti Nuraisyah, as well as Google Singapore and everyone who helped make this amazing gathering happen!
