Instead of a genius idea, I think this is rather not so smart and defintely dangerous. If the purpose is to prevent rule-breakers from running in passages, this may backfire. I can totally see rule-breakers and thrill-seekers seeing this as a direct challenge and actually organizing drunken 3-D carpet races 😂. Why pay to ride a roller coaster when you can just run on this for free? But even more seriously - what about first responders like paramedics, firemen and police? People with certain medical conditions such as vertigo and maybe even epilepsy? They too will get tripped up in this ill-conceived plan. 👎

In the STR industry, we know how important it is to not disturb our neighbours. We shouldn't be making money at the expense of our neighbours. So much so that there are numerous devices now to control the noise. We respect our neighbours. But what happens when it is the business that makes the noise and disturbs the neighbours? STR's are seen along the same lines as hotels. So what do you do when it is the hotel making the noise, disturbing the neighbourhood? Current (and ongoing) situation, a neighbouring hotel, after 4 years of construction noise 6 days a week, opened around early January 2023. Since it opened we have had to deal with ongoing noise from their kitchen exhausts, air con units and rooftop bar. After a sound technicians second visit to record sound levels and to determine whether the "changes" the hotel had made to improve the noise from kitchen exhausts, air con units and the rooftop bar had any effect, the rooftop bar has cranked up their music. Every night since. So much so that my neighbours have called the hotel (I have the hotel on speed dial!), and police have had to come. If I want a party in my own apartment, I'll have one. But I don't want one every night. Enough that I have to call them at 1am, sometimes 2am, to ask them to turn off the kitchen exhaust so I can sleep. Anantara, this is really not good enough. You are in the hospitality industry, but you have been displaying a complete lack of respect for your neighbours. You are affecting at least 5-6 apartment buildings, if not more. Eight months later and you are still having your parties with loud music, affecting everyone. And that's not to mention the kitchen exhausts and air con units. Shame on you. I will never be your guest as I think your brand is a disgrace. (The video below was from June, the bar's opening party. But it's been the same pretty much since. This is terrible messed up interpretation of #passivehouse concept. Plainly wrong on so many levels. Don’t get me wrong : I support the #physics and use of passive house calculations fully - but it does not mean fixed windows, and zero alternatives for ventilation or occupant control - that’s poor design and promotes sick building syndrome. Where is #adaptability and #resilience in case of mechanical failure? None. Therefore Bad design. Poor climate resilience and human species survival margin narrowed further.
