We didn’t create our own imposter syndrome. Some experience (or bad manager) led us to believe we were lesser than. Because of this, we turn away from or even abandon our authentic selves. Leaders - you have a tremendous responsibility to shape how people feel about themselves. Use your powers for good.

thanks for flagging the care needed on BOTH sides -- person feeling Imposter, and the person who might be triggering it. Jodi-Ann Burey's very smart HBR article https://hbr.org/2021/02/stop-telling-women-they-have-imposter-syndrome stopped me in my tracks -- i never thought to QUESTION the feeling. when i NOTICE my imposter feelings, i pause and ask -- 🤔 how much of this is me Judging myself against a "perceived mandatory" ideal? is that my ideal? 🤔 how much of this is someone else's stuff [even if it has my name on it]? 🤔 how much delta is there from where i am being/doing to my ideal, and what can i do in this moment to move one percent closer to my ideal self/behavior in this situation? 🤔 and most important, how can i show myself AND THE OTHER PERSON WHO TRIGGERED ME empathy, care and concern -- with a clear mandate to put the oxygen mask on my own face FIRST? but i never take my Imposter's word as the first and last word -- i ask questions.
