Two-way honest communication is the key. Too often we hear people say they said what was expected to their managers and employers. Unfortunately this results in misaligned expectations, of which only grow further apart the longer it goes on for. Perhaps it's time to change the narrative and connotations around the "where do you see yourself in 5 years" question. #linemanagement #management #linemanager #leadership #seniorleadership #talentrecruitment #teamcollaboration

Empowering action-takers & leaders to make an impact in their careers (and create a life next to it)
Do you ever feel tension at work when some colleagues want to work less while you're willing to go all in? When there are disagreements in work and life values, these three elements can help: 1. Self-awareness is crucial. You need to be aware of your goals and reasons for pursuing them without feeling pressured to impress others, mainly if their ideas differ. 2. Knowing your boundaries and prioritizing your values is critical. 3. Empathy is vital. You should be able to understand and relate to others' perspectives, even if you don't necessarily agree with them. Watch Steven Bartlett and Simon Sinek share their thoughts on honesty and mindset shifts in the video.

Can you imagine a world where people aren't defined by their professional titles or roles? How would that change the way we view success and happiness? How can we balance the need to earn a living with the desire to pursue meaningful work that aligns with our values and passions? Is it even possible? Can we create a society where everyone has access to fulfilling work without feeling pressured to conform to certain standards or expectations? What steps might we take to get there?

Job vs career? So what is the difference between doing a job and pursuing a career? As a leader, who do you promote ? All else being equal, the obvious answer might be those that are pursuing a career because they are likely to sacrifice more than those who see what they do simply as a job. Id propose this is an outdated concept. The best leaders see people as a whole , not just what they do during work hours. Outstanding leaders can identify people’s ‘superpower’ and harness it in a way that serves both the organisation and the individual. If you had to call out each of your team members ‘super power’ could you do that ? If not , you may be missing out on untapped potential. It has nothing to do with jobs or careers, if you see the best in your team members and they feel seen, chances are they will respond by giving more of that discretionary effort that is essential for any high performing team. #highperformingteams
