🚀 Excited to share my recent experience with John the Ripper (JTR) during my cybersecurity internship! In this video, I demonstrate how to use JTR in mask mode to crack a password that starts with the word "mask" followed by 8 random digits. Hey #cybersecurity folks, Do you think cybersecurity #education should start earlier than college? Do you hear about the skills-gap facing the cybersecurity industry and think "I want to help!?" Do you feel that hands-on learning is essential to developing the essential skills to be successful in a cyber-career? Well, I had the pleasure of meeting with Shane Scott, Director of Secondary Curriculum at West Des Moines Community Schools, and we got to talking about these issues. Shane is working with West Des Moines faculty to establish a cybersecurity curriculum, open the doors to apprenticeship and internship opportunities for students, and identifying resources in the community to help in these efforts. Now I talked a big game about our community... I told Shane that this is an issue that we all care about deeply, and that (whether we like to admit it or not) effects all of us. I have recently completed the virtual internship program from CFSS Cyber & Forensics Security Solutions , and I am happy to share that I have secured a place among the top 50 performing interns in my batch during the role of Cyber Crime Investigator. During this internship, I was tasked with analyzing an Employee Privacy Violation case file, in which I had to prove or disprove whether or not the employee was stealing his company information. During this, I was given a zip file of a forensic image as evidence, which I downloaded it and extracted with 7zip software. After that, using the Autopsy tool, created a new case for this image file and open this case in the same tool and analyze it. I obtained a lot of clues during the analysis. It took me a lot of time to analyze it, because the file size was too big and my system got too hot. But I finally completed the analysis and submitted it on time. I've always been told to pursue my one true love instead of having multiple dates. Yet, I find myself irresistibly drawn to not one, but two captivating realms: software engineering and cybersecurity. What some may deem "double dating" in the pursuit of knowledge, I see as a harmonious union of two loves. As I immerse myself deeper into these fields, I discover a beautiful synergy, where insights gained in one enrich and inform the other. It's a love affair with learning that I simply can't resist, as each day brings new revelations and connections between these two fascinating domains. By swapping pixel values and applying mathematical operations, users can now encrypt and decrypt images seamlessly. Thrilled to apply this newfound expertise in real-world scenarios!
