Every year, the GSMA – on behalf of the global mobile industry – recognises one country that has demonstrated impactful, positive changes in digital policy and telecom regulation. Today, we recognise the winning country for its: - Strong efforts to modernise its regulatory regime and bring digital services to its citizens, with 10 public consultations held on topics including spectrum planning, 5G policy, and maritime mobile services; - Regional leadership in the WRC-23 preparatory process, particularly its recognition and support of mid-band spectrum to meet the mobile needs of its citizens, as well as the assignment of mobile spectrum in 700 MHz, 850 MHz and AWS bands with a focus on growth over revenue.; and - Rollout of initiatives to expand digital inclusion, including creating 12 ICT Access Centres that provide skills training and access across the islands, with more planned.
