Gianluca Gera facilitated an insightful discussion challenges and opportunities related to growing a business in today's challenging capital markets. 🤝 It was a pleasure to exchange insights with established entrepreneurs and investors such as Thomas Eldered and Justin Reizes.   One of the key #challenges brought up was the 2021 oversupply vs. 2023 undersupply of venture capital in growth companies. A start-up that has raised large amounts of money may make hasty decisions to grow, making the investment less effective.📉 If that same start-up is later underfunded, leaders may not be able to adjust growth in time, and are faced with cash flow issues, instability in the team as well as culture. 🌟honoured for the invitation to join the esteemed investor panel! 🚀 Thank you to those who led the event UK Business Angels Association #WomenbackingWomen that took place just before Easter weekend in Edinburgh kindly hosted by RBS NatWest Group in collaboration with Mint Ventures and supported by The Scottish Government and Scottish Enterprise. It was a excellent discussions in the lush historical Royal Bank of Scotland interiors , opened by Jenny Tooth OBE and Gillian Fleming and sparked by Ana Stewart ( fellow ICAS - The Professional Body of CAs EDI committee and Council member) enlightening presentation of her career and co-authored pathway document. 📑 The insights shared were an inspiring call for action! 🔍 We collectively recognised the urgent need to infuse the investment landscape with greater diversity. It's clear that we must strive for more inclusive horizons. 🌈 ✅ some clear actions were raised to push the ecosystem forward to be more #inclusive and #accessible: 1️⃣🌟Robust education on investment strategies and risk diversification across various asset classes. 📘💡 2️⃣🌟Streamlining access to diverse investment opportunities, including emerging assets. The major private equity firms, including Blackstone, Apollo Global Management, Inc., Ares Management Corporation, KKR, TPG, and The Carlyle Group, showcased resilience in the tough fundraising market during the third quarter. Private wealth clients played a significant role in this growth, as these firms continue to expand their product distribution and introduce new strategies. The private credit divisions of these groups also saw increased inflows, countering investor caution towards private equity. Apollo led in capital raised, focusing on global wealth expansion. Ares reported its second-highest fundraising quarter, while Blackstone surpassed Ares in total capital but with a lower value of new commitments. KKR maintained strong momentum in private wealth strategies, Carlyle faced fundraising challenges but looked to the private wealth channel for growth, and TPG showed improvement in capital raised compared to the previous quarter.
