Happy International Women In Engineering Day! Today, let’s celebrate by acknowledging trailblazers like Damyanti Gupta, who was hired as the first female engineer with an advanced degree at Ford in 1967. From refugee to mechanical engineer, her journey is inspiring and her work improving vehicle engines helped get us to where we are today. Back then, her nickname was "Rani," which means queen, and rightly so! But her story isn't just about beating the odds — it's about grit, perseverance, and loving what you do. On holiday and visited Burys Court in Reigate, one of the schools I attended while living in the UK as a kid. Now Moon Hall school, it was nice to see them using Transit vans!

Let’s talk about how ecommerce is affecting road safety. More online shopping = more delivery vans on the road. Since it’s #NationalSafetyMonth, I wanted to share this recent study from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Biggest takeaway for me is that advanced #vehiclesafety features could prevent or reduce nearly 40% of fatal crashes involving work vans. Our Ford #Transit and #ETransit come standard with 2 of the 4 features outlined in this study: front crash prevention and lane departure prevention (blind spot detection is also available as an add-on). All these help drivers to avoid common accidents. Read more about the importance of these safety features below. Great to keep in mind for those adding new vans to their fleet!

Let’s talk about #electricvehicle range for long distance hauling… The heavier the load and the further it has to be hauled, the more energy you need to move the vehicle forward. It’s true for gas-powered, and it’s true for electric. That’s why it’s important to always, always, always evaluate your use and needs. If hauling is a big part of #fleet operations, fleet managers should note how their loads and routes will impact the #EV battery range and adjust charging plans accordingly. That said, super important to get up to speed with new #tech. Our E-Telematics software can give you a birds-eye view on the battery status of your vehicles and factor in payload when calculating available range.
