World Nuclear Association estimates that, as of November 2023, 68 GW was under construction, with a further 109 GW currently planned and 353 GW proposed. In addition to the nuclear reactors currently under construction, reaching the goal of the declaration would require an additional 210 GW to reach the announced objective by 2050.” From the International Energy Agency (IEA) Electricity 2024 report. https://lnkd.in/eeGZvirx #NuclearEnergy

The projected figures are indeed impressive, yet the additional 210 GW required to meet the 2050 goal underscores the scale of the challenge ahead. It's clear that a concerted global effort is needed to fully harness the potential of nuclear energy. #nuclearenergy #leadership #collaboration

The Rolls-Royce SMR is #designedfordelivery… this unique ‘factory-built’ nuclear power plant is a radically different approach to deploying well established nuclear technology. This results in significant advantages over ‘traditional’ onsite construction - including improved quality control, shorter construction times and increased safety. Recently, Rolls-Royce SMR opened a £multi-million facility in Sheffield to manufacture and test prototype modules. This is further example of how this ‘home-grown’ technology can lead the nuclear renaissance in the UK and demonstrates a long-term commitment to infrastructure and the skills of the future.
