Large styrofoam boxes could not be the future for smoked fish, production manager Dominik Raser knew. But if reusable packaging couldn’t meet the sector’s hygiene requirements, what could?🐟 The company turned for help to our Circular Innovation team, who created a space-saving corrugated cardboard solution made from virgin fibre, with a water-based barrier coating that is grease-resistant yet suitable for direct food contact. The results are impressive. The new packaging has: 📦 92% less storage volume (empty) 🚚 53% less storage volume (filled) 🌍 60% less material CO2 footprint 💰 50% smaller price tag than a styrofoam box Happy client. Happy us! World Environment Day 2024: Our Commitment to a Sustainable Future On this World Environment Day, I would like to share with you our dedication to a more environmentally friendly future and how we implement cutting-edge methods to guarantee the sustainable and ethical management of natural resources. A concrete example of green innovation is our warehouse located in Castel San Giovanni (PC). We are able to satisfy the energy needs necessary to keep over 500.000 bottles at a controlled temperature thanks to the 300 kW solar panel installation on the roof. We also have made improvements to our packaging throughout the time. Our packages are now 39% lighter than prior versions and are made entirely of FSC cardboard, of which 70% is composed of recycled paper. Furthermore, after packaging arrives at its destination, it can be all recycled. We work with partners who share our commitment to sustainability and the environment as we think that selecting a wine is a gesture of respect for the planet's ecosystems. In a world drowning in #plastic, the insistence on using plastic #capsules for wine bottles is an example of unjustified waste. The capsule adds no value to the quality of the #wine; it is merely an aesthetic embellishment, a remnant of obsolete practices that can be improved. It's time to recognize that, even if a bottle without a capsule may seem less attractive, the value of #sustainability must prevail. Fasoli Gino and Tasi are at the forefront of this battle, demonstrating with determination that the courage to embrace #change is necessary to protect our #planet. These companies, aware of the environmental urgency, are committed to eliminating superfluous elements from the packaging process. However, the path to adopting #ecological solutions is often hindered by the usual bureaucracy. Complex regulations and a rigid system slow down the adoption of greener practices, stifling #innovation. It is essential to streamline these bureaucratic procedures to promote sensible choices. Happy #EarthDay! I'm so incredibly thankful to experience the natural beauty of this planet, and simultaneously so heartbroken to see the damage that we humans are doing every day. I've been on a personal sustainability journey for the past decade, and here are a few simple swaps I've made in daily life to conserve resources and lessen consumption of single-use materials: 🌿 Keeping a set of reusable dishes and utensils (including chopsticks!) at work to use less single-use paper plates and plastic utensils. 🌿 Nearly eliminating paper towels at home, and using washable cloths instead. 🌿 Saving leftover drinking water to water my houseplants. 🌿 Ditching the Swiffers for reusable, washable dusters and mops. 🌿 Planting native pollinator-friendly flowers in my garden and avoiding pesticides. What are some other daily practices I can implement? I'd love your suggestions!
