A tacit goodbye.
Bye.
Wondering, the very first word to be a “bye.” How?
Because this piece of writing delves into what transpires after that unexpected farewell—the aftermath for the one left waiting. I did manage to utter a “bye,” but there are those encounters that conclude without it, fading into the hope that someday we’ll reconnect.
Yet, that “someday” remains suspended in our minds, an elusive illusion. You care deeply for that person, yearning to witness their happiness, regardless of the cost. Even if it means parting ways, you accept it. Those final goodbyes resonate differently when vulnerability surfaces—you’re stripped down to your authentic self. You meticulously planned countless meetings, yet none materialized. Now, uncertainty looms.
Is it truly a goodbye, or should you hold on a little longer? The other person promised to return, but the clock ticks, and their presence remains elusive. Should you prepare questions for the next conversation? Or perhaps plan a trip to create new memories together? Or maybe just sit, reminiscing about the past? The most agonising part is knowing that this person, this good soul, can never be wrong—at least not to you.
Yet, your mind whispers dissent, urging you to resist acceptance. You still recall the first encounter—was it an event, a dance party, school, or college? Listen, my dear, here’s the truth: You can be furious with someone and still ache for their presence. Miss them profoundly! And in the end, remember this—the person wasn’t cruel to you. You cared, loved, and both invested effort.
Those brief “wyd” and “how are you” texts, though fleeting, held immense significance even though it was 10 minutes of chit chat but at least it made you feel contented and that’s what matters. And so here I give my claim not help you with those elusive thoughts or the agonising part but they will return soon. In a month maybe. Just hold on for a little more time. Just hold till you birthday comes. Love transcends all and I trust you.
