The Bio Revolution, as forecast by McKinsey, is rapidly approaching, driven by the convergence of AI and Biology. Numerous startups and researchers are developing technologies that will significantly change our way of living. #techbio While some are focusing on utilizing natural organisms more effectively by enhancing their cultivation approach, others are pushing the limits to master DNA control and the microorganisms that carry it. Imagine controlling DNA like we code on a laptop. As thrilling as it is frightening, the world is changing, and we must make the right choices. Soon, we will see microorganisms engineered to turn by-products into valuable resources like essential nutrients, proteins and advanced biomaterials. This means turning waste into wealth. Is your science method reductionist or holistic? 💻👩🔬🧬 I am very exited to share our work with Irene Papatheodorou and Alvis Brazma on developing a contextualised computational framework for cross-species comparison of scRNA-seq data is available through bioRxiv today! While most current methods are reductional, we explored how a holistic view can tell us more by examining the implicit hypothesis and using Knowledge Graphs. This project has been transformative for me in terms of critical thinking and paradigm change.
