Help me understand… If someone has an order of protection or restraining order against them due to a criminal offense the criminal courts have determined they are a danger. Family courts don’t seem to believe this, maybe believing they know more than the judges in criminal court, but they consistently force survivors to modify an order of protection to make transitions for the kids easier. Easier for whom? The only one who benefits from this is the abuser. And if you are a court professional, and I use that term loosely, and you believe it is OK to allow an order of protection to be broken just this once for the holiday, you should probably not be in this profession. Your job is to keep children and family safe. Not to make things easier for an abuser. #familycourt #inthebestinterestofthechildren #lawenforcement #courtevaluator #domesticabuse

H.R. 2601 would require the operator of the Trafficking Hotline to turn over information shared by the public to state and local law enforcement on demand, regardless of whether or not an adult trafficking victim consents to the involvement of law enforcement. Victims of human trafficking must be able to control when to involve law enforcement in their trafficking situations. Because human traffickers often threaten victims and their families if someone calls law enforcement — regardless of who calls — the bill is dangerous to the safety and security of victims and survivors of human trafficking. As a result, we urge members of Congress to vote NO on H.R. 2601. This bill would force the Hotline to break the trust of the people who call for help, and as a result, fewer victims and survivors will reach out for support. I am advocating against this bill in my personal capacity because I care about the rights of victims and survivors, and believe their needs should come first. To defeat H.R. 2601, we need allies across the country to call their representatives and encourage them to VOTE NO on H.R. 2601.
If members of Congress want to demonstrate that they truly listen to survivors, then they should vote NO on H.R. 2601. This bill would require the National Human Trafficking Hotline (NHTH) to turn over information shared by the public to law enforcement, regardless of whether or not the victim consents. The NHTH should remain a safe space for survivors to decide when to involve law enforcement in their situations. Contact your representative and ask them to stand up for trafficking survivors and vote NO on HR 2601: https://lnkd.in/dutN7HXW #NOonHR2601 #HR2601

The alarmingly low conviction rates in drug-related cases raise questions about the commitment of the authorities to upholding the rule of law and effectively prosecuting offenders. Merely suggesting that the police need to take the "right procedural measures" and improve their investigation practices is a gross oversimplification of the deep-rooted issues at hand. The authorities must provide concrete plans and actionable steps to address the systemic failures, including measures to enhance training, accountability, and resource allocation.
