Well said my friend, Daniel Flynn . 4.5 years 13+ volumes of personal experiences, lived real life evidence and recommendations 3 Whole Books (Over 2600 pages in total) of Stories and "Voices of People with Disabilties" A VERY clear cut final report with concise and practical recommendations by theme A $600+ Million taxpayer bill, not to mention the costs to individuals and family members of people with disabilities, to uncover what was already known. . And out of the 222 recommendations, only 13 are being actioned... . Imagine you went to your workplace leader and they asked for your feedback, you laid your heart on the table, were honest, they promised to listen and take action, and then after disclosing everything, the listened to 5% of what you asked....5%! . How might that feel? What would that experience be like? . And not only that, to add insult to injury, not only were you NOT listened to but the narrative continued about 'those people self managing cant be trusted' or 'all those dodgy providers' and 'we are doing this for your own good' and 'co design'... . It all circles back to "We the government know best" and "this is a cost rather than an investment" . Put the money in the hands of the people, not providers, show people visions for a good life and how they might get there, assist people to craft arrangements as close to themselves as possible and let the people with disabilities journey towards a 'Good Life'. 13 out of 222 recommendations. We spent over a decade fighting for #OurRoyalCommission then 4.5 years bearing our souls, talking about the most personal of things and reopening old wounds in the hope that this would bring change. The government had a clear opportunity to draw a line in the sand. To say, what has been has been, but, today we lift the bar, and take steps to ensure that future generations of people living with disabilities no longer need experience the abuse, neglect, violence, exploitation and segregation that we and those that came before us have experienced. But instead we get this, 13 out of 222. I am done. Our blood will be on their hands.

Each year, the Administration for Community Living leads Older Americans Month exploring how our older adults can remain in and be involved with their communities. This is not only a theme for the month of May but it is central to how we approach our work in aging services at McGregor. The 2024 theme is Powered by Connection, which recognizes the profound impact that meaningful relationships and social connections have on our health and well-being. https://lnkd.in/gSMy_Dmg

On this important day, we would like to remind everyone how important it is to plan ahead for the future, put away savings and invest mindfully for your loved ones. We are currently helping a client to look after their disabled Grandson. One of the ways we do this is to ensure that they will get their benefits in the future. We work to ensure that you get the support that you are entitled to. For example, we can help you to ensure that your loved ones aren't left under the care of the council, but given the right care that you want for them. Not all persons with disabilities are born that way. There is sadly a possibility that the people closest to our hearts, or even ourselves, could suddenly end up needing extra financial support as a result of a tragic accident or illness. Hopefully this will never happen to you, but it is important to prepare for the worst. If you would like advice on how to prepare for a financial misfortune, book a free discovery call with us today and we will be happy to help. #internationaldayofpersonwithdisabilities #savingforthefuture #financialbumper

‼️ parental alienation is a SERIOUS form of psychological child ABUSE ‼️ “Untreated induced parental alienation can lead to long-term traumatic psychological and physical effects in the children concerned” (source : national library of medicine) This is IN FACT listed in DSM-5 ➡️ Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition. With that said, ‼️ This is MUCH more than your child’s parent being evil, this IS an illness ‼️ HOWEVER, that does NOT mean that they should not be held accountable. Let’s figure this out TOGETHER! #parentalalienation #narcissisticabuse #fathersrights
Please take a moment to read and sign my petition to show support for alienated fathers who are unjustly kept from their children. Let’s start making a change!!! https://chng.it/7wJRJDQ6Dh

‘This Friday 5 April is the anniversary of the release of the ‘Bringing Them Home Report’, the summation of the 'National Inquiry into Separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children from Their Families’. Fifty-four recommendations were made in the report, yet little has changed for First Nations peoples. The government and Child Protection systems continue to fail Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, 27 years on from the release of the report. Our health systems play a pivotal role in continuing to perpetuate this, and we have a collective responsibility to actively address these ongoing racist practices. https://lnkd.in/gmNxvqk... The story of the Stolen Generations cannot be told without recognising the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families, and communities. (https://lnkd.in/gXGWYmuP) The LMHN team is taking the time this week to reflect and deeply learn by reading the report and the 535 personal accounts it contains. We are also engaging with First Nations responses to the state of the child protection system since then and their calls for this system to be overhauled. As Natalie Cromb stated in 2018, 'The fact that Indigenous children are removed at 11 times more than non-Indigenous children yet compromise just 5.5% of children aged 0-17 in Australia is a glaring indicator that the removal of children is racially motivated. The staggering statistics of children in detention tell the same story, and yet the government continues to impose oppressive policies that maintain the narrative of ‘problem’ and provide two solutions (assimilate or segregate) which demonstrate that on the most elemental level – this government and society at large – fail to understand Indigenous people, the nature of our identity, our families and our trauma.'
