Are you interested in diving deeper into regenerative agriculture and exploring innovative financing approaches to cost share and de-risk the transition to regenerative? Join our Regenerative Agriculture Community of Practice Webinar on Thursday, June 20 from 10-11:30 am EDT. During this session, we will hear from Franklin Holley of Conservation International, David LaZaks of Food System 6, and Sarah Kelley of The Fibers Fund. We will explore how grant funding can be leveraged to kickstart regenerative projects, how loan guarantees and insurance can be used to de-risk the transition to regenerative agriculture, and how these tools can be woven together to share costs and reduce risks amongst producers and brands. The vision for our community is to scale regenerative agriculture through unprecedented industry collaboration. It is an opportunity to learn from experts, interact with industry peers, and participate in community regeneration. Congratulations to Colin Custer and Alex Healey on the publication of Bridging the Regenerative Agriculture Financing Gap: https://lnkd.in/eZc8i8Pp Indeed, regenerative agriculture is top-of-mind for farmers, agribusinesses, philanthropies, and governments who understand that we must "produce food that leaves the land and surrounding communities better than we found it." Climate change, biodiversity loss, and watershed degradation leave no time to waste. This primer explores the capital barriers that impede a transition to regenerative practices and highlights the market-changing work being done by leaders in this space - Mad Capital, Walden Mutual Bank, SLM Partners, Dirt Capital Partners, Fractal Agriculture, Akiptan, Inc, just to name a few. A pragmatic and inspiring explanation of where we are today and where we need to go...as quickly as possible. Give it a read.

Major food companies are making “more promises than progress” on regenerative agriculture, according to an analysis from the Farm Animal Investment Risk & Return investor network. A FAIRR review of 79 global agri-food firms found that 63% refer to regenerative agriculture as an opportunity to reduce corporate emissions. Of the companies with pledges in place, 64% do not have any quantitative company-wide targets to achieve those goals. Only four companies — Nestlé, PepsiCo, JBS S.A. and Sodexo — have put a significant amount of money behind their pledges to support farmers in the transition to new, more sustainable production practices.

In the Kitchen Call: Opportunity Areas for Funding & Collaboration in Regenerative Agriculture October 11, 2023 @ 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM PT Join Josh Cavanaugh, a trustee at the Russell Family Foundation and SAFSF member, as he shares his research around areas of opportunity for funding and collaboration in regenerative agriculture. Through 25 interviews with practitioners to understand capital needs and constraints, and with values-aligned funders (including several other SAFSF members) to understand interest, decision-making factors, and any present barriers to engagement, his research identifies pressing needs in the regenerative agricultural space: supply chain services, land access, and transition financing. This conversation will seek to illuminate the identified areas for investors and grantmakers where engagement will enable the transition to regenerative. This is a free event available to SAFSF members. Registration is required. https://ow.ly/yCU950PPCBn

With Discover Regenerative now live, we wanted to share more of the nuts and bolts of how we are approaching the diverse world that is regenerative agriculture. With no clear definition and the ongoing debate of what is / isn’t regenerative agriculture, one thing that does seem to be agreed upon, is that regeneration is a journey. Producers are at different stages: some have been leaders in this space for decades, some are taking the first steps and on the right track towards improvement. Working closely with a number of leading regenerative agriculture organisations in Australia, we have developed an approach to providing Assurance that recognises this diversity, rewarding proven achievement whilst also supporting entry and improvement. Read more from Kirsten Larsen on Regenerative Assurance and Evidence and the different types of credentials showcased on Discover Regenerative: https://lnkd.in/gyx7vKaN Search the Directory to see the credentials of showcased producers: https://lnkd.in/g_wCQSYJ Image courtesy of: Beermullah Beef on Yued Country, Western Austraia

Find out one of the first in-depth analysis of the growing number of regenerative agriculture commitments across publicly listed agri-food companies. Published by FAIRR Initiative, the report highlights that: 👉🏽#50/79 companies worth USD 3 trillion mention regenerative agriculture initiatives in their disclosures. 👉🏽Regenerative outcomes sought by companies are scattered with a preference for soil health and carbon. 👉🏽❗️Only #36% (18/50) have quantified company-wide targets for regenerative agriculture. 👉🏽❗️Just #16% (8/50) discuss metrics and data, with only four companies having established baselines to measure progress. 👉🏽‼️Only #8% (4/50) have targets to financially support farmers to deploy regenerative practices. #regenerativeagriculture #inclusivefinance

I believe the future of agriculture needs to be regenerative. Maya Zamir and M.A. Miller offer a compelling look at investing in regenerative farming and ranching in 2024 - the benefits as well as the potential risks of a failure to transition away from conventional practices and some of the opportunities that investors have to invest in sustainable and regenerative agriculture to help mitigate climate change and build wealth in farming communities in a way that addresses gender and racial inequities.
Impact investing in regenerative agriculture has evolved. Veris' Associate Director of Investments Maya Zamir and M.A. Miller wrote an overview of investing in regenerative agriculture in 2024 that covers benefits and barriers, trends in thematic shifts and how capital is flowing, and opportunities for investors to help catalyze the transition to regenerative farming and ranching. #regenerativeagriculture #impinv https://lnkd.in/esdZeRA8

The intension of this feature is to bring together the best innovations, speakers, suppliers and solutions that can illustrate and set a pathway for farmers into the future. It also offers consumers insight towards the outstanding work our farmers do, in producing world-class produce and the journey from paddock to plate. The emphasis is now on those advocates and stakeholders in the Regenerative Ag community, to commit, step up and participate in this special feature and we welcome anyone wishing to make a positive impact. #regenerativeagriculture #regenerativefarming #regenerativeag #soilhealth #soilscience #carbonfarming #biodiversity

In the world of #agriculture, understanding the context of the land is essential. Even more so in the case of #regenerative agriculture. We were recently able to talk about this with Juliana Jaramillo, who spearheads the regenerative agriculture initiative at Rainforest Alliance. For those familiar, yes, it's the organisation with the iconic "green frog" certification! 🌳 Rainforest Alliance's Mission: Beyond just certification, they aim to protect our forests, biodiversity, and take decisive climate actions. 🌾 Regenerative Agriculture: Juliana emphasized its significance and how it's not a blanket solution. The approach must be adapted to local realities and context. 🚜 Transitioning from Conventional: Becoming a regenerative producer is a journey. Starting from conventional farming, the path involves efficiency, substitution of harmful inputs, and a complete system redesign. 🤝 Driving the Change: Consumers, producers, businesses, and governments must come together in a collective responsability, aligning economic incentives with knowledge and support. Enjoyed the insights? 🐸 🌱 🌎 Catch the full podcast episode here: https://lnkd.in/dkJRyBEh
