Babcock has announced it is to invest in a research and development project to support the future of military driver training. Military drivers need to be prepared for a wide range of situations, which can be difficult to replicate, for example, how to respond to a tyre blow out, varying terrains, driving at night or in foreign countries with unknown road signs. Babcock has signed an agreement with VRAI, Novatech and Bohemia to investigate how technology can be used to create training environments at scale which are focussed on the user experience, insight intensive and can be used to train quickly, effectively and reach competence at accelerated rates. #military #defense #defence #militaryleak https://lnkd.in/gjhAjRGv

In the real world of C-UAS operations, mastering RAPID airspace deconfliction and clearance is the fine, and critical art of base defense C-UAS operations. Seeing a highly trained C-UAS EOC (Engagement Operations Crew) operate in a BDOC, WOC, TOC or CP is very impressive. When you hear the FAAD operator call out "Attention in the TOC" and see the room get silent, then the Battle Captain and NCO stand up and take charge of the room in a finely tuned orchestra of leadership following TTPs/SOPs perfectly, is something amazing to see. When you see it done right you know what right looks like. This is what I trained for years with my coworkers on the MTT. Our EUCOM C-UAS MTT model we built for C-UAS training was far above and beyond anything done in the Middle East. We were given a long leash by my leaders to build, try and test new techniques to best serve individual units based upon their unique situations. I worked with some excellent team mates like Austin Cable, Jim Ripley, Casey Lancour, Mike Bonjour, Scott Hamels, Tim Rios, Hunter Mayo, Pete Johnson, Gerry Hinshaw and others. It takes a lot of time to train a base defense C-UAS EOC crew properly. They also need constant sustainment training. Battle drill validation exercises must be conducted often to ensure they are on their game. You can not cookie cutter this. Each base is unique. You must know what you are doing. This is why it is critical to have trainers with real world down range C-UAS experience. I used my former SF mindset of treating each base like a new guerrilla force I was linking up with. I'll talk more about that later. I have seen units stop doing frequent Battle drills and it is amazing how fast they will loose skills and competency. Rehearse Rehearse Rehearse!!!! I will always look back on my time as a C-UAS MTT Trainer and Theater Lead fondly, but I am also extremely happy to be working for a great company with superb products like FlexForce.us

Investing in the ongoing skilling and training of aviators is fundamental to the successful sustainment and implementation of new capabilities as part of a joint force. As mission aviator numbers grow, there is no better time to enhance training approaches from initial to advanced levels of mastery. An integrated training solution that systematically addresses technical, operational, and organisational priorities in advance, will unlock new training potential for the next generation of mission aviators. CEO of Maneuver Training Solutions, LLC | Primary Instructor for Orion Training Group | Tactical Instructor for USCG, SMTC | Father & Husband | Kit Afficionado
I spent 20 years in the Marine Corps, with 17 of those as a Force Reconnaissance Marine. In that time I went through many CQB “packages”, which were ultimately unit training events on direct action. Though of course a strong unit requires strong individuals, so much of the early days are spent on the range and house working individual skills. A common phrase uttered was that the flat range did not translate to the house. That you could be a great flat range shooter and suck in the house. This always perplexed me; if the range doesn’t translate then why not only train in the house? So at the end of my career when I was placed in charge of the CQB program I wanted to make it relate AND make range training engaging. Some things I picked up from others, some things popped into my head. These exercises needed to work marksmanship, manual of arms, and movement patterns while being able to be repeatable and not require major adjustments to the setup to change the skill trained. The video in this drill is one such that came to me, and though I don’t claim to be the first person ever to think of it I had not seen it before (or since). Another goal with these drills is that though they have fairly direct tie-ins with tactics; these are still just range drills working movement patterns. Run these drills with the general “what’s in it for me” that they will help the student in the house. Then when we get to the house and begin working actual tactics the students are reminded of the related range drill, and then the proverbial lightbulbs come on. The clip is from a recent Orion Training Group class we call, CQB Marksmanship & Intro. We spend a day on the range and then a day in the shoothouse covering individual skills. This drill can be run many ways, and here the student is exercising movement and engagement patterns of a 3 or 4 man into a space. Just like sports, you train the basics and isolate skills and isolate muscles in the gym. You work more complex lifts or complex drills and work into “sport specific” exercises. Still isolating micro components of the sport, though more complex than a stationary range drill or throwing of a ball. And, importantly, these drills are FUN. People enjoy them which means they’re engaged with their training.
