Researchers at Aerospace pioneered some of the first small spacecraft in orbit and were integrally involved in developing and promoting the CubeSat standard. Today, we provide our world-class technical expertise in the field of smallsats to support our customers in mission success. The Aerospace Corporation participated in the 38th Annual Small Satellite Conference on August 3-8, 2024 in Logan, Utah. This year's event explored how automation is being integrated into small satellite systems across the space, launch, ground, and user segments, making them smarter and more effective.

As a connector and convener for the space industry, Aerospace brought together diverse perspectives to explore new opportunities and tackle emerging challenges during ASCEND 2024. Opportunities like ASCEND enable Aerospace to more impactfully drive important decisions, harness innovation and accelerate integration across the space enterprise. Jerry Fuller, a senior engineer specialist in our Vehicle Design & Innovation Department, discussed Aerospace's deorbit motor prototype with Aviation Week Network at Small Satellite Conference (SmallSat). Our 2024 Dr. Wanda M. Austin Scholarship winners, Angel Santana and Haley Duncan, were featured on Telemundo 52. Angel was the 2024 Valedictorian of Lennox Academy and will be attending Stanford University. This summer, he interned at Aerospace in the Vehicle Systems Division Haley graduated from Da Vinci Science High School and will be attending Harvey Mudd College this fall.
