Deep tech companies are on the rise, commanding 20% of VC funding as investors are taking note. A recent report by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) revealed that deep tech's share of VC investment has doubled over the past decade, now accounting for 20% of the total. This is great news for companies specializing in significant technological advancements and scientific discoveries. There's no better time for deep tech companies to fundraise. The reasons are multifaceted, ranging from the growing interest in sustainable and breakthrough technologies to the increasing realization of the long-term value these companies offer. Yesterday we were at Deep Tech CEE Summit & Challenge in Warsaw and pleased to have organised one of the panel sessions: 🔬 From Lab to Market: Navigating the journey of deep tech and chemical recycling innovation, moderated by Arvin Khanchandani and including the panelists Krzysztof Wróblewski, CEO at Contec S.A., Karolina Ewa Wojtas, Venture Partner at Eurazeo Investment Manager and Director at the startup Everix Optical Filters and Grzegorz Lada, BD Director at Clariter. The panel gave a good window onto the investor perspective vs. the scientist's perspective when it comes to the creation of deep tech solutions and then their implementation into the market. There was even some controversy on the topic of how much it is an investor's role to support scientists during their academic journeys and how much the scientist needs to independently hone their business skills. Definitely there is more food for thought for the audience when the panelists don't necessarily agree with one another!
