Bosch is leading the charge in measuring brake particle emissions to comply with the upcoming Euro 7 standards, set to take effect in November 2026. Their state-of-the-art brake test bench measures total emissions and particle size distribution, surpassing European regulations. The tests aim to reduce harmful ultra-fine particles and improve the longevity and environmental impact of brake components.

It’s extremely important to understand the Euro 7 standards. This is a part of the overall LCA regulations that are coming. There are two components to achieving it:- 1. Zero Brake drag- whether in hydraulic or electro-mechanical calipers. 2. Friction material composition- almost like a magical chemical composition. I think some machine learning will help. Finally life is difficult with heavier EV’s. It does require higher brake force to stop.

There's a lot that goes on before, during, and after a consumer gets a vehicle. Take a look at where A&D Technology's solutions fit into the value chain of a vehicle component. Most of A&D's applications are used in the R&D phase, helping engineers efficiently design, test, and evaluate vehicle components; but our solutions are so versatile, they also fit in great with end-of-line testing! When a vehicle is done being used by consumers, often times, the parts are examined and tested to see if they should be thrown out, recycled, or reused; there are many A&D customers who use our test systems for engine or battery remanufacturing!

🌍🚗 EU Commission, Council and Parliament positions on the EU 7 regulation! 🌿🔌 To achieve a zero-pollution vision for 2050, the European Commission intends to tighten regulations on clean air within Europe. The EU Commission sees the implementation of the EU 7 regulation as a crucial tool for achieving these stricter targets. Strict emission limits, real-world testing under a wide range of operating conditions and the extension of the emissions' scope to vehicle-specific elements, such as brakes and tires, are key components of the European Commission's EU 7 scenario. To accommodate battery electric vehicles, the proposed legislation requires high-voltage batteries to meet durability requirements. The meaningfulness of EU 7 is a heavily debated topic in the automotive industry as it comes at a time where there is an uptake in electric vehicle sales. The requirements place significant pressure on Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and suppliers having to invest in both electrification and EU 7 compliance. At the same time, the dwindling sales of combustion engine-driven vehicles reduce the effect of a new pollutant emission legislation. This is reflected in the latest scenarios of the European Parliament and European Council, published ahead of the Trilogue with the EU Commission. Find out more about the key positions and elements in our post! Do you want to learn more about the current regulatory situation and its implication on the automotive industry? SEMA Ad Airing in Connecticut Underscores the Auto Aftermarket's Innovation, Danger of Mandates The auto aftermarket industry has led the way with alternative fuel innovations, including replacing older engine technologies with newer, cleaner versions and converting older internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to electric, hydrogen, and other alternative fuels. Encouraging free market innovation is the best path toward developing new vehicle technologies to reduce emissions meaningfully. "Engineers solve problems," said Gregory Banish, a mechanical engineer featured in the ad. "As long as we're not handcuffed, you'll see a lot of cool innovations… If we take away that option for [the aftermarket], now we're forced into using one system, we might unintentionally legislate ourselves out of what would have been the next great development." Further supporting this, a poll commissioned by SEMA in December 2023 shows that voters across the state overwhelmingly oppose a potential ban that would make new vehicles equipped with ICE illegal in the coming years. Eliminating choice will not help; 56% of respondents believe this is an extreme example of government overreach that removes affordable choices from Connecticut's families and dictates what consumers must buy. https://lnkd.in/d_ZkHi2V
