Part 10 of the series explores the Enneagram type of J-Hope, BTS’s main dancer, rapper, sub vocalist who is also songwriter, record producer and a member of the prestigious Korea Music Copyright Association. He began as a well-known street dancer prior to joining BTS, then became highly skilled as a vocalist, a rap artist and so forth. JUNG HOSEOK (J-HOPE AKA HOBI) ENNEAGRAM SEVEN | THE “JOYFUL” PERSON Although this is still speculative, I think Hoseok is an Enneagram Seven. Online, people who wrote about his type came to the same conclusion. Why does Enneagram Seven seem like a good match for him? Enneagram Sevens have a thirst for stimulation, from new ideas, new people, and new experiences. They also engage in positive possibility planning, wanting to keep all of their options open. They are imaginative, enthusiastic, quick-thinking, and often charming and engaging. They can also be highly spontaneous, even impulsive at times, and also rebellious if they feel their freedom is being limited. In addition, Sevens are pain-avoidant. Pain avoidance isn’t just about physical pain; it is also about emotions with which they are uncomfortable, and this includes feeling sad or sorrowful but also fear and anger. Sevens avoid pain and discomfort in multiple ways. They engage in positive thinking and positive experiences whenever possible. This sets in motion a dopamine somatic response, dopamine being a pleasure, satisfaction and motivational hormone and neurotransmitter. If stimulation by something new and exciting doesn’t work, Sevens also use reframing. Reframing means making something negative into a positive. Sevens are sometimes called the Peter Pans of the Enneagram because they are extremely optimistic, thinking that just about anything is possible. They are also upbeat and fun-loving. Many Sevens look younger than they actually are, so strong is their positive outlook, as if the harsher realities of adulthood have not yet sunk in. Sevens also feel responsible for bringing hope, joy and enthusiasm to those they encounter. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF HOSEOK Hoseok is most often described as highly energetic, joyful and smiling, as well as being a talented dancer; his dancing background was initially in street and freestyle dancing as well as beatboxing. He also has the moniker of “sunshine” due to his upbeat interpersonal style. Those who know him personally describe him as a really, really nice person who continuously supports and encourages other BTS members in every way he can. For example, Hoseok gives BTS members big hugs when they need it and offers encouraging words when they get disheartened. He is also very playful, especially, but not only, with the younger BTS members Jimin, V and Jung Kook. Cortisol and The Tango Sure enough, night club dancing around works up a sweat, gets you out in pubic and makes some time with the opposite sex. But, the classic dances have a distinct advantage when it comes to strength, grace and health. Bodybuilder, Michael H. Brown advocates classic dancing to build strength and grace. In his book, Diagnostic Body Building, he mentions how his injured hip recovered from taking Latin dance classes. Several athletes were good dancers. Martial artist great, Bruce Lee won a cha-cha competition in high school. Boxer Sugar Ray Robinson used to dance for change as a teen. But, what is really fascinating is the effects of Latin dancing on the human hormonal system. Psychology Professors Cynthia Ouiroga Murcia Phd and Stephan Bongard from the Goethe University Frankfurt and Musicology professor Gunter Kreutz from the Carl von Ossietzky University conducted a study on the effects of tango dancing on dancers’ stress hormonal levels. They did this by regularly testing the cortisol and testosterone levels of the dancers’ saliva. (As you might know, cortisol is meant to protect the body from inflammation, but often causes high blood pressure and weight gain. Testosterone builds muscle in men.) The researchers found: 1. Passive listening to music, tended to increase testosterone in women and lower testosterone in men. But, active tango dancing did not effect the testosterone levels in either dancer. (So, guys who dance are protecting their testosterone levels.) 2. The tango dancing is a moderate activity at about 55% exertion capacity for most people. These means the tango dancers burned less Calories than the nightclub style of dancers. But, the tango dancers produced less stress and therefore little cortisol. Now it gets really interesting. 3. Regular dancing with a partner and music lowered the cortisol levels in both the male and female dancers. 4. Dancing alone or without music was significantly less beneficial than dancing with a partner and with the music. Is it any mystery that many good dancers live tend to live long?

💫Insights from the Dance Floor ☘️To me, dance is an expression of the soul—an art form that transcends language and communicates emotions through movement. It's a way to connect with myself on a profound level.. Dance is freedom, joy, passion, and a source of immense fulfillment.Above all, dance is an integral part of who I am, enriching my life in ways words cannot fully capture. 🍁Here are some valuable lessons I learnt on the dance floor: 🌱Perseverance Pays Off: Mastering complex dance routines requires dedication and perseverance. The discipline I have cultivated as a dancer has taught me the importance of persistence in achieving my goals, both on and off the dance floor. 🌱Expressing Emotions Non-Verbally: Dance is a powerful form of expression, allowing me to convey emotions and tell stories without uttering a single word. It has taught me the importance of non-verbal communication and the impact of body language in conveying messages. 🌱Embrace Failure as Feedback: Every misstep and stumble is an opportunity to learn and improve. Instead of fearing failure, I've learned to embrace it as a natural part of the learning process, pushing me to strive for excellence. 🌱Mindfulness in Movement: Dance encourages mindfulness, as it requires full immersion in the present moment. Through dance, I've learned to cultivate awareness of my body, breath, and emotions, fostering a deeper connection to myself and the music. 🌱Resilience in the Face of Criticism: In the world of dance, constructive criticism is inevitable. Learning to accept feedback graciously and use it as a tool for growth has made me more resilient and adaptable, both as a dancer and in other aspects of my life. 🌱Celebrate Progress, Not Perfection: Dance is a journey of continuous improvement, not perfection. Instead of fixating on flawless performances, I've learned to celebrate progress and embrace the journey of growth, one step at a time. 🌱Confidence in Self-Expression: Dancing has empowered me to express myself authentically and confidently. It has taught me to embrace my unique style and individuality, both on and off the dance floor. 🌱Joy in Movement: Above all, dance has taught me the sheer joy of movement and expression. Whether I'm performing on stage or practicing in the studio, dancing brings a sense of freedom, creativity, and pure exhilaration. 🍂These lessons from the dance floor have profoundly influenced my personal and professional life, shaping me into the person I am today. What lessons has other forms of art taught you (be it writing, painting or anything)? Let's continue to share our experiences and insights, inspiring others to find their rhythm and passion for artistic expressions . #DanceLife #SelfDiscovery #PersonalGrowth #LPUcareerplanning

I often find myself pondering why Ballroom & Latin dancing isn't as popular in certain cultures & societies. Sometimes I believe it's due to limited access (to resources), or perhaps it's because the modern culture doesn't perceive it as "cool" enough. Regardless, I have questioned why I have continued pursuing dance for so many years, & I have jotted down some of the answers: 1. Embracing Timeless Manners: These so-called "old-fashioned" manners are simply acts of respect & kindness. Being a gentleman by offering a lady your jacket, seat, or holding a door can make a genuine difference. “Manners Maketh Man” - Harry Hart ‘Kingsman’ Movie 2. The Art of being a Gentleman: The essence involves leading with grace, guiding through gentle contact, & suggesting rather than imposing your will. It's a beautiful way to show respect & care. 3. The Power of Eye Contact: Dance has taught me that true connection goes beyond just looking at someone's eyes. It's about really seeing them, acknowledging their presence, & forging a deeper bond. 4. Leading by example: Move yourself first then lead with sensitivity & suggestion, rather than force. 5. The significance of Intentional Steps -“Place your feet”: Every step in dance requires conscious & intentional practice. This principle reminds me to approach life with the same level of mindfulness & control, ensuring that my actions are ordered & purposeful. 6. Dedication through practice: The more time & effort I invest in practice, the better I become. Dance has taught me that improvement comes through consistent training & a willingness to learn from mistakes. 7. Learning from the Masters: Studying the greats, having mentors, & admiring those who excel in dance fuels my own journey. It pushes me to set higher standards for myself, while also holding me accountable to continuous improvement. 8. Sharing My Personal Story: Dance has become a platform for me to share my own journey. It allows me to connect with others on a deeper level & discover my own truth & reality. By embracing my history and using it as fuel, I propel myself forward with a sense of purpose. These are just a few of the many lessons I have learned through dance. They have shaped me & enriched me in this particular chapter of my life. Dance isn't just a form of artistic expression; it's a transformative experience that teaches us valuable lessons & connects us to something greater than ourselves. #TheDanceGuy

I will get you a 6-figure job you LOVE ❤️ - DM yes to join the next free masterclass. I’ve helped 100s achieve this and can help you too. Transformational Career Coach | Podcaster | Storyteller
How can we believe a new thing when it feels hard to grasp… Many people ask me about this… How do I keep the faith? How do I believe this when it feels so far off from being possible for me? Here’s how I think of it. This is like a dance we do. A dance with a more advanced dance partner. And that dancing partner IS the bigger belief. I see it as this really great dancer; they move fluidly and are great at what they do (I think of the belief as a separate entity, your future self once the belief is embodied if you will)… And they tap you on the shoulder and ask if you want to dance? At first, you might be a bit trepidatious; I mean, they're really good, and you haven’t had much practice… But you know you WANT to, and you feel like you'd really love to get as good as them. The thought of it lights you up. You love the thought of seeing yourself dancing like a pro, doing the steps as if it’s natural to you… But your brain knows that’s not the case YET. That’s how I see beliefs. They are there to invite us forward, they are there to challenge us and invite us to go bigger with what we want for our lives and futures. And they are there FOR A REASON. We wouldn’t be invited to dance if we couldn’t ever master the dance! I’ve danced with a lot of beliefs. Every day I dance with new ones, and some of them for months. Until I get good. Until I learn the steps. Until they start being something I embody. The misconception of how to believe something new is that we should be able to believe instantly or force ourselves to just BE In belief all the time. That’s unrealistic. Think about it… When we dance a new dance, we will for sure miss steps. We will be off with the music; we will have to redo things and try them again, maybe even in front of people in a performance. To get really good at anything, repetition is REQUIRED. A lot of it. A lot of repetition of the NEW belief, and the embodiment of it is necessary for it to start becoming reality. And a lot of understanding of the steps, the moves, and the way you want to FEEL when you’re in that dance and you’re solid in it. And it can take a few weeks or a few months to embody a new belief entirely. But it’s a process that is available for anyone. Just like anyone can learn to dance (no matter how bad they start at dance, it’s the practice and the dedication to it, not the talent that matters) Just like anyone can learn to play the piano or the guitar or whatever instrument may be considered very difficult when you start, the easier it gets as you go. Want to do this belief work with me? We work on so many of the beliefs that stop most people from landing high-paying jobs in high-value environments! Beliefs like - “I’m not sure I have enough or that my background is enough to get me to my next high-paying role.” I don’t believe that my skills are enough to create the value I want to create. I can’t wait to do this work with you. DM me to get the free masterclass and get started.

I’ve stopped teaching dancing. I’ve been of the mindset that I teach people – through dance. Dance is the tool - or medium - used to help other to acquire deeper lessons. This perspective has allowed me to consider the person first, & the technique & skills afterwards. Yes, the standard & movement quality is important, but there are so many other attributes that come with learning dance. Dance can be used as a metaphor for: - Relationships - Business - Life We can compile an extensive list of benefits of dance – which are all true, but personally, I want people to walk out of a room having received a different experience. The philosophical aspects of dance has been studied & documented for generations so there’s plenty of resources available to draw from. When people leave a session with me they should: - Feel better about life, people & themselves - Know that they’ve been challenged to learn & improve - Have gained knowledge, provoked thought & experience that is unique - Sweated & have pushed their physical, mental, & ‘spiritual’ boundaries - Gain benefits that are applicable outside of a dance environment - Feel truly alive I’ve recently listened to an interview with Professor Scott Galloway on the Diary of a CEO podcast hosted by Steven Bartlett where he says that the divorce rate is so high & there are so many single mothers in society that young men are being raised, & taught by, women; & have a deficiency of good, male role-models in their lives. I think that this is a reason why young men are being drawn to consuming the content of people such as the likes of Andrew Tate & Clinical Psychologist, Jordan Peterson. I am actively aiming to use dance to address this. Being able to touch someone with pure intentions, relate to someone of the opposite sex, & have male examples of pure expression through an artistic & athletic endeavour is one way that could land with & relate to some boys & young men out there. They need to be taught, but also be able to learn from, examples set by good, strong men. This begs the question: “What is a Man?” Or even, “What is Masculinity?” The perspective & perception of dance should be addressed. General society has a warped view & we have to actively reeducate people as to the amazing value that engaging in dance can bring – especially to males. I truly believe that through educating people through dance & by connecting with them, I am making the world a better place; because if we don’t have a relationship with ourselves & this vessel that we use to navigate through this journey of life (the body), we are not allowing ourselves to express to our fullest & purest potential. As I write this, I remind myself of these things. I don’t always get it right, but my intentions are pure. #TheDanceGuy

Head of Spiritual Advisory | Neurodivergent Wounded Healer | INSEAD - Executive Master in Change | Decolonizing Consciousness, Playfully | Giri, Nritya & Naad Yogi
"The bridge from doing to being is playing." - Erik van de Loo In the realm of spirituality, we undergo the profound journey from our primitive state of 'doing' to the more evolved state of 'being.' Erik, my program director at EMC at INSEAD, beautifully encapsulates this transition with the quote above during our case paper discussion. This resonated deeply with me when I reflected on my journey. Meet my favourite form of playing; Ecstatic dance, a practice dating back to ancient Greece, is believed to achieve trance-like, godly states through free movement. Closer to home, we have the Natraja, the divine cosmic dancer form of Shiva, inspiring the dancer in the collective unconscious. I harboured the unconscious belief that dancing was feminine and somehow anti-masculine. But then, I discovered ecstatic dancing, completely transforming my perspective. It has become the most profound way to look within and connect with myself, others and the cosmos. I have danced ecstatically, from the serene beaches of Goa to the sundowners in Mumbai to Odessa in Amsterdam to the chilled vibes of Brussels. 🔬 Ecstatic Dancing: A Biochemical and Spiritual Odyssey 🔬 I came across this awesome video, "How Ecstatic Dance Hacks Happy Chemicals And Improves Health" (Credit: HigherDOSE), which explores the science and spirituality behind ecstatic dancing. As busy CEOs, Lauren Berlingeri and Katie Kaps explore ecstatic dance to see if this fun bio-hack works. They meet Coach Yarixa, who leads them through an experience of self-expression, including wild primal dancing. The session includes consuming cacao, discussing personal fears and tensions, and using adornment to activate their highest form of being. The process involves emotional freedom technique (EFT) tapping, positive self-reinforcement, and vocalizing to release tension. It's fascinating how this form of dance can trigger biochemical reactions in our body, leading to healing and good health. Ecstatic dancing allows us to break free from our inhibitions, releasing feel-good hormones, lowering cortisol, and helping us achieve a state of presence filled with joy and bliss. It's a form of play that bridges our 'doing' and 'being,' allowing us to experience life in its fullest, most vibrant form. 👣 An Invitation to Transformation 👣 I invite you to explore ecstatic dancing, especially if you've ever felt like you 'can't dance' or have 'two left feet.' It's more than just a dance; it's a transformative experience that harmonizes your biochemistry, mind, body, and soul. You might find yourself connecting with a part of you that you never knew existed. Join me in this dance of life, and let's embrace the joy of being through the playful art of ecstatic dancing. Please share your experiences, and let's celebrate the journey from doing to being together. #SpiritualAwakening #Transformation #FlowState #BioHacking #GINPI

Stress Whisperer | Helping Driven Achievers Escape the Burn Out Trap | Take Back Control | Calm Overthinking | Tame Perfectionism | Find Fulfillment | Swap Stress for Success | Join my next Free Training to Learn How.
"The whole point of the dancing is the dance." I was reminded of this Alan Watts quote by another post I read today. Maybe in all our haste to achieve or get to the end of our to-do list for the day, we are missing something important. It's not just the goal that matters. The way we get there matters too, because this is where we spend all our time. In the achieving. The actual achievement is so fleeting that we may forget to celebrate it at all. You may take years climbing the mountain in front of you, but not sit at the top and drink in the view. Maybe you'll snap a quick photo and then head down again. Because you've seen another mountain ahead that's even taller. The next, exciting, shiny, new goal to go for. You might say to yourself, "I'll be truly happy when I conquer THAT one". But will you? Really? I remember, back in my corporate days, we would spend months preparing for a presentation to win a huge contract. After one such presentation, on our way back home, my boss said "if we win this, we're must make sure we celebrate". We did win it. And we never celebrated. Because all we could think about was how on earth we were going to execute all we'd promised, as well as everything else we were already doing! It stuck in my mind, because I was already questioning at that time how much all this stress and achieving was really worth. So what can you do? At least celebrate your wins. More than just that high you feel when you tick something off your to-do list (which is so short-lived, because while you were doing it, two other things just got added). You must mark it properly. Go for a meal, buy yourself something small and frivolous, or just do a happy dance. Make the achievement matter. Then make the achieving matter too. Decide that each little step you take towards a big, fat, hairy goal is a win too. And celebrate that somehow. Maybe do something simple like patting yourself on the back (yes, I mean physically pat yourself on the opposite shoulder). Or why not just do it right now and celebrate forward? It cheers up your brain. Motivates it. Go on. It works! And if you can't find any roses to smell on your journey, I've just taken this photo for you of the ones in my garden. They have no real perfume, but if you take a moment, maybe you can imagine the smell of the rain that was dancing in the air, just as I took it. It's my gift to you. Enjoy!
