Slightly earlier than I would hope for I am on my way to London Vet Show & BVA Live. The beady eyed amongst you will note the two bridges spanning the River Mersey. Seeing them as I went over sparked my thinking… The old meets the new and aids in the delivery of the key function…increasing traffic and challenges of capacity were rendering the original bridge a nightmare so a new one was built to alleviate the burden. Now between the two they deal with the demand seamlessly. Not only that, but if one is closed the other can take the burden until the other reopens. Here comes the veterinary link I know you are on edge for… The new is helping the old…not replacing it!!! A vet practices key function is to cater to the health and wellbeing needs of the pet owner and their pet. Digital services are helping vet practices to steady the flow and alleviate the burden on a creaking system. To be there even when you aren’t there. We must not view things as an alternative but a way to streamline demand and also to maximise opportunity for your vet practice. By working collaboratively and utilising tools like VidiVet (especially out of hours) vet practices have control over how we can support pet owners with a complete end to end service without being cut out of the loop. I look forward to chatting about this and other analogies with as many of you as will put up with me at the show… #vet #veterinary #conference #digital #support #pet #pethealth

When I rediscovered this picture recently, 2 memories came rushing back: 🐕The absolute unbridled joy they brought to my life 🐕The day I received my coat That day is significant to me, as I'd been told that I'd never get into U of M and I'd never get into MSU's vet program. At this time of year, we know that heatstroke is a common health issue that canines are coming into your clinic with. Educating pet owners on how to care for their pets throughout the warmer months could reduce the number of heatstroke cases you will see in your clinic this summer. So, what pet owners should do to prevent heatstroke is: - Make sure their animal(s) always has a cool shaded place to sit both outside and inside - Ensure that they always have plenty of cold drinking water available - Reduce their exercise on warm days It’s also important to educate pet owners on the symptoms of heatstroke and what to do if they suspect their dog is suffering from heatstroke. This is why we have created a FREE Protect your Dog from Heat Stroke poster which you can display in your veterinary practice as a constant reminder to your pet owners. Get your FREE poster at the link below. https://lnkd.in/e8g3NHgC #veterinarytraining #education #vetschool #vet #vetenarian #medicaleducation #animalsimulators #educationalproducts #veterinarystudents #animalanatomy #anatomy #anatomyeducation #educationalresouces #heatstroke #canineheatstroke
