I'm pleased to share that LifeSpeak Inc. released its third quarter financial results today which show a commitment to the company’s upward trajectory. Key results include:     ·       Third quarter 2023 revenue of $12.9 million and ARR of $51.5 million.   ·       Adjusted EBITDA of $3.3 million, representing a margin of 25% for the quarter.  ·    988 clients, with the addition of notable enterprise clients including CAA Club Group, University of Minnesota, Canada Goose, pirkx, Prolink, and 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, INC..    We expect further cross-selling opportunities to emerge in the fourth quarter. As we add new clients who purchase multi-product solutions, there will be additional chances to offer our existing portfolio of products and services. You're really comfortable because you've been really lucky." - John Wepler, Chairman & CEO, MarshBerry I took pages of notes this morning during this great industry update at WBN - Worldwide Broker Network's conference. I often say that I love this industry but I worry about our bad habits. Many of those were touched on in this session including the age-old problem of producers that don't produce...but I digress. 🙃 Many firms are comfortable "enough" not to deal with the elephant(s) in their respective rooms and are counting on forgiving valuation calculations that reward all growth equally. I was struck by John's warnings about complacency and the data that shows the widening distance in valuations between mediocre and high-performing firms. I've never seen a Producer, Team, Office, Region, or National Practice grow without a team to do the work. Never. Amid a growing industry talent shortage, this should be top of mind for anyone serious about growth. We can do better as an industry than our siloed thinking about Sales and Client Service. You'll grow more if you invest in your client service team and hold producers accountable than hiring more producers to operate from an outdated playbook. Building effective, efficient high-performing client service teams is a growth strategy. Lately, I've attended a few Producer meetings to share talent trends and how modern teams collaborate. Great to hear from insurance leaders at the Association of British Insurers conference this week, always interesting to hear takes on the direction the industry should take & predictions on the year ahead. A few takeaways: - Having heard from both Bim Afolami MP & Tulip Siddiq - the question arises, how can insurers best plan for post-general election conditions? The capability to model numerous scenarios based on interest rates, investment allocations, premium changes & the ability to see how these affect the balance sheet will be a crucial element when planning for success. - Stats around home insurers spending £1.40 for every £1 premium they receive whilst motor insurers are also working at a loss clearly indicate the challenges insurers face to quantify risks. Numerous CEO panellists all agreed that post-COVID models aren't effective anymore, highlighting the need for refinement in modelling capability for those categories to return to profitability. - Reference was made to UK productivity. Bloomberg reported 70% of UK workers are at firms with below-average productivity! "Frontier" firms (top 10%) contributed >60% of labour productivity growth since 2011. Common theme? They reduce time spent on manual tasks & focus on value add activities of course, but most impactful is multiple departments collaborating from common workflows - e.g. all planning from a single source of data rather than individual systems. Somewhat conveniently, Board is well positioned as a trusted partner to help insurers navigate the challenges ahead. About a week ago, I made my last post on consolidation in healthcare: https://lnkd.in/grR3mNrc Regardless of the potential impacts, it's crucial for consolidated healthcare companies to prioritize trustworthiness. Here are some ways they can achieve this: * Clearly communicating costs and billing practices to patients fosters trust and helps them make informed decisions about their care. * Focusing on individual patient needs and preferences, ensuring their voices are heard, and involving them in decision-making processes. * Actively engaging with the communities they serve, addressing local health concerns, and collaborating with community organizations to improve overall health outcomes. * Adhering to high ethical standards, avoiding exploitative practices, and prioritizing patient well-being over profit maximization.
