Despite a significant drop in overall startup funding this year due to rising interest rates and economic uncertainty, generative AI startups have defied the so-called "startup winter" by raising a record $10 billion in 2023. This marks a 110% increase from 2021 funding levels. The US has led the way, accounting for 75% of funding for GenAI startups. Early-stage companies received 40% of deals, showing ongoing interest in new entrants utilizing this transformative technology. Areas like healthcare, education, and commerce are increasingly adopting generative AI. Investment in artificial intelligence startups surged in the second quarter of 2024, according to Crunchbase data. These startups raised $24.2 billion in 1,001 deals, more than double what was raised in the first quarter and the same quarter last year.
