Global Sales Lead @ Nokia - passionate about: building trust, delivering business value | specialized in digitalization: data center, 5G, IoT, edge cloud, OT/IT | Transformational leader
#cloud-native operations of your networking infrastructure?! Some insights and observations shared by Gregory here:
Nokia: A Leader in the Cloud-Native Network The enterprise network is in the midst of a cloud-powered transformation. Old-school tools and manual processes are being swept away by a wave of automation, cloud-native design, and the rise of Kubernetes. Cloud-native tools are displacing legacy systems, allowing us to manage our networks as code. Kubernetes is evolving into a powerful control plane for network services, making policies more intuitive. Even the command line is changing giving us high-level control. What does this mean for network engineers? A call to evolve: - Think services, not devices: Master the art of network abstraction. - Automate or perish: Infrastructure-as-code and declarative tools will rule. - Devs are your new allies: Collaborate under the banner of DevOps. - Level up: The cloud, Kubernetes, and coding are your new essential skills. The network operations tooling of tomorrow is more powerful, more automated, and more deeply integrated with the cloud. At Nokia, we're not just adapting to the cloud-powered network revolution – we're leading it. Our unique SR Linux network operating system is designed from the ground up to meet the demands of modern enterprises, service providers, and web-scale networks. But what does that really mean? Forget the ordinary. Explore our journey and uncover the unexpected ways we're reshaping network operations:

Control Groups (cgroups): The Backbone of Containerization 🐳 Ever wondered how containers seamlessly manage system resources? Control Groups (cgroups), a fundamental Linux kernel feature that powers Docker and revolutionizes resource management. What are cgroups? Control Groups, or cgroups, are kernel features. They enable the allocation and isolation of system resources among processes or containers, ensuring efficient resource utilization and preventing resource contention. Cgroups were introduced to address the growing need for efficient resource management in modern computing environments. Initially developed by engineers at Google to optimize resource allocation on their massive scale, cgroups were later integrated into the Linux kernel to benefit the broader community. Resource Allocation: Cgroups allocate CPU, memory, disk I/O, and other resources among containers or processes. Isolation: They isolate containers, preventing one from impacting another's resource availability. Resource Limitation: Cgroups enforce user-defined resource limits, ensuring fair usage and preventing resource exhaustion. Empowering Containerization: Docker uses the capabilities of cgroups to provide efficient and reliable resource management for containerized applications. With cgroups at its core, Docker ensures stability, scalability, and optimal resource utilization, driving innovation in modern software development. #Docker #DevOps #Containerization #cgroups #ResourceManagement
