If your goal is direct sales from an ad, then yeah, targeted marketing is best, but if your goal is to create brand awareness, marketing to a broad audience will establish brand recognition. And what about products that reach a universal audience like food? Why do people still pay so much for Super Bowl ads?

That's why balancing sophisticated mass marketing with targeted marketing is important. Each of these balls is building brand awareness, brand equity, salience. Adding shorter term targeted campaigns to your strategy puts a little baller at the bottom there slam dunking as many as they can into the glass.

Oops! That's bad. The foundation is wrong is from the start. Know your ICP. Period

When leaders are asked about their markets and they show a "world map" : "What are you ? The Roman empire invading the world?" 🤦♀️
