🌾 Exciting Insights from the Second EU CAP Network Thematic Group informal meeting on Nurturing Skills for a Thriving Agricultural Sector! 🌱 Yesterday, I had the privilege of participating in the second informal meeting of the EU CAP Network Thematic Group, where we delved into the indispensable connection between knowledge transfer and the essential skills needed in the agricultural sector. One of the key takeaways from the discussion was the recognition that, beyond knowledge transfer, the focus should also be on generational renewal. During my contribution, I highlighted the critical importance of succession on family farms. Family farms not only form the backbone of European rural areas but also play a pivotal role in maintaining the social and economic fabric of these regions. To safeguard the future of agriculture, it's crucial to invest in training programs that empower the next generation of farmers. The succession debate goes beyond the transfer of know-how. For example, emotional ownership, as well as many other aspects of succession processes involving soft skills, require attention. Cultivating a sense of commitment and passion for the rural areas among the younger generation is as vital as imparting technical knowledge. I am excited about the positive progress we are making in defining the competences and skills that farmers need to ensure a thriving future for the sector. 🚜🌍 #EUCAPNetwork #Agriculture #SkillsDevelopment #Sustainability #GenerationalRenewal

🌱 A Fulfilling Chapter: Nurturing Agriculture with LAID 🌱 I'm thrilled to share the incredible experience I've had as a trainer with the Lebanese Association for Initiation and Development (LAID). The project, "Access to Sustainable Employment for Youth (ASE) 2023," has been an immensely rewarding journey that I'm truly grateful for. Over the course of our venture, I had the privilege of guiding and mentoring 54 eager trainees, who were divided into two dedicated groups. Our focus was on delving into various aspects of agriculture, ranging from sustainable practices and effective irrigation techniques to hydroponics, greenhouse cultivation, solid waste management, and crucial agricultural methodologies such as pruning and green roofing. What made this endeavor particularly enriching was our hands-on approach. We didn't just stop at theoretical knowledge – we put our learning into action. Engaging with practical applications allowed us to bridge the gap between theory and real-world scenarios. Additionally, our exploration extended beyond the classroom as we embarked on illuminating field visits. Our visits to places like Domaine de Taaneyel/AEC offered us the opportunity to witness firsthand the intricate processes of solid waste management, while our trip to Agrifresh with Eng. Tarek Daoud provided valuable insights into innovative plantation practices. This venture wouldn't have been possible without the wholehearted support and collaboration of everyone involved in these enlightening field visits. To each person who played a part in making these experiences not only possible but also truly transformative, I extend my heartfelt gratitude. Last but certainly not least, my deepest appreciation goes to the exceptional trainees. Your eagerness, dedication, and cooperation have been the driving force behind the success of this project. Your thirst for knowledge and your commitment to growth in the field of agriculture have truly inspired me. As we close this chapter, I'm filled with gratitude for the power of collaboration, exploration, and education. The knowledge we've gained during our time together through "ASE 2023" will undoubtedly continue to foster positive changes in the world of agriculture and beyond. #AccessToSustainableEmployment #AgriculturalEducation
