Each year, since 2011, The Maschhoffs recognize an employee who displays the company core values through key business decisions and leadership actions. The Core Values award is a prestigious honor that recognizes the outstanding commitment of a single individual. This year’s winner is Paul Ayers, Animal Care Manager. The below set of values serve as an authentic reflection of the company culture. 1. Relationship: Our employees and partners are foundational to our family, business, and we are committed to their safety and success. 2. Stewardship: We believe in the preservation of the family farm and our natural resources, and care deeply about our animals and the environment. 3. Service: We strive to exceed customer expectations and positively impact our communities. 4. Progress: We will improve daily through our dedication to building and implementing knowledge while operating with a disciplined approach. Paul has exhibited exceptional dedication and involvement in various aspects of the GAPSY business initiative over the past year, working tirelessly to update work instructions, facilitate training rollouts, improve processes for audits and corrective actions, and implement a new Change Management approval process. Despite his primary role, Paul contributed significantly to the update and launch of the Purpose and Impact report, showcasing the company's sustainability efforts. The commitment to excellence extends beyond GAPSY, as he has consistently upheld the highest standards in animal care and welfare, ensuring the company meets targets and maintains external certifications. Paul has not only shared these standards within the company but has also contributed to improving the entire industry. He served on the National Pork Board Task Force to develop and maintain the Common Swine Industry Audit. Additionally, he helped prepare the system for foreign animal disease by supporting processes for US SHIP and Secure Pork Supply program participation, as well as animal movement tracking information with NC State’s RabApp program. Paul’s willingness to take on diverse roles, embrace new challenges, and foster relationships across departments highlights his exemplary leadership qualities. Outside of work, he still takes time for family, gardening, getting outside to run or cycle and hit the ski slopes – when PTO allows. Don’t ever hesitate to grab a cup of good coffee, fine wine, and cook something with Paul.
