The Maschhoffs 2nd Annual Targeted Development Program is a one-year program for a select group of individuals. The purpose is to increase awareness of self-development opportunities, build individualized plans to drive development, shape network of professional mentors, improve leadership competencies, and increase perspective outside Swine Industry. The individuals participated in a session quarterly consisting of both interactive classroom and fieldtrip components. They are surrounded by a support network comprised of various facilitators, mentors, peer groups, and participants’ leaders. By actively investing in the growth and advancement of talented individuals, we aim to create a supportive environment that recognizes and rewards their contributions. This program not only demonstrates our commitment to their personal and professional development but also underscores our dedication to our employees’ long-term success within the company. Meet Joel, who, alongside his wife Elizabeth, celebrates 35 years of marriage and raises four grown sons, two of whom are married. Their eldest, along with his spouse, recently relocated to Kansas City, MO, after moving from Dubai just last month, bringing along their two sons, aged 5 and 2. Their second son and his wife reside in Topeka, KS, both working as surgical nurses, having forged a friendship while working together in a UAE hospital. Joel stands out as the sole employee who has worked across three continents – Asia, Europe, and North America. Joel's journey with The Maschhoffs began in February 2022 when he joined as the Associate Director of Production in Great Plains. Pioneering the People Development program within Great Plains fills Joel with pride. He introduced GROW (Getting Ready for Opportunities at Work) for Animal Caregivers showing leadership potential, LEAD (Leaders in Excellence, Accountability & Development) tailored for current Team Leads, and ACHIEVE (Amplifying Competence in Harnessing Innovation, Empowerment, Values & Excellence) for Farm Managers. For Joel, personal and professional growth intertwine through proactive participation in training and leadership programs, adapting to various leadership styles to empower his team. "I derive immense satisfaction from witnessing our team evolve into better leaders. True leadership lies in fostering more leaders," reflects Joel. His advice to new hires is to remain open to change, embracing innovative paradigms, and learning from them, recognizing the diversity of systems and approaches. Drawing from Jeff Stevens' insights in "The Heart of Business," Joel emphasizes the danger of prioritizing profit over a higher purpose within an organization. He advocates for leading with a greater mission, exemplified by The Maschhoffs' commitment to "Feeding Families and Building Communities," fostering a sense of collective purpose beyond individual gains.

It's incredible what can unfold in a week when we take a moment to reflect. This past week was quite the rollercoaster. ➡ I chatted with three veterinary leaders, diving into their leadership journeys, their successes and challenges. None of them had previously entertained the thought of coaching and were unaware of the power of it, so it was a pleasure to shed some light on its potential for them. ➡ I spoke to 3 veterinary practice owners who have all had vacancies open for 6-12 months, with very little interest via adverts and agencies. There are 5 ingredients for successful recruitment, and by the end of each conversation we were able to pinpoint their missing ingredient and set them off in the right direction to resolve it. ➡ By Wednesday, I’d caught my husband’s lovely cold, yey, so I focused on blog writing. I write four per month as a rule. ➡ I had a session with my own coach this week. We delved into core wounds and how they've played out in my life so far, and the measures I've taken to mitigate this core pain. Next up, we'll be exploring ways to re-frame and re-shape this, to truly honour who I am. Powerful stuff, and I absolutely love it! I can only guide a coaching client as far as I've journeyed myself so I remain committed to 'meeting' myself and confronting my blind spots. ❔ What milestones did you cross this week? ❔ How did you show yourself kindness? ❔ And, in the dance of daily life, how did you sync with your energy's rhythm to ensure you stay within your boundaries?

Leading By Example: Discipline as the Key To Being an Inspirational Veterinary Leader I worked with a Clinical Director who openly admitted to lacking discipline. After we explored this further, we found the lack of discipline was showing up in: 1) Communication: frequently changing their mind about protocols without informing the rest of the team, which led to misunderstandings, delayed treatments, and even mistakes in administering medications. 2) Time Management: She often arrived late to team meetings which sent a message that her time was more valuable than the rest of the teams, resulting in frustration and decreased morale. 3) Nurturing her Team: She neglected to invest time in training and development for the team, rarely organising opportunities for further learning or training, and it led to team members feeling undervalued and overlooked, and a sense of stagnation. After leaning into courage to confront her shortcomings and making a commitment to change (courage and commitment are 2 very important ingredients to create discipline), she was ultimately able to engage in transparent communication, embrace personal accountability, and commit to nurturing her team’s growth. This shift in discipline heightened team morale, enhanced patient care, increased workflow efficiencies, strengthened the practice’s reputation, eased the challenges of recruitment as she had stepped up and therefore the standards she held in terms of hiring staff increased too. Where do you need to embrace discipline in your leadership? And what possibilities and opportunities would it create for the practice and your team if you did? #veterinary #leadershipcoaching #courageousleadership

Founder, CEO at Uncharted Veterinary Conference & DrAndyRoark.com I Veterinarian I International Speaker I Media Personality I Podcaster I Writer I Guy Who Builds Communities to Solve Hard Problems
Reflecting on the most ambitious project of my career... which launches today. For 15 years I've tried to help people be happier and more successful in veterinary medicine. Year after year, I worked with people who didn't know exactly what to say in hard conversations, who had been promoted into management and never trained on how to actually manage other humans, and people who had a clear purpose and vision but struggled to get others to see it or share it. I wrote for these people, lectured, and even started a conference... but I never felt like I could really share what I was learning with all, or even a significant part, of the people who might benefit from it. Today, 15 years of learning and a year of labor are out in the world thanks to a wonderful partnership with VetFolio and North American Veterinary Community (NAVC). The Uncharted Leadership Essentials Certificate is 8 hours of RACE CE and on-demand in VetFolio. This is a collection of 7 seminars that contains the information I think every person who leads or manages others should know. Trust building, core values, communication styles, keys to achieving team buy-in, coaching and feedback, setting priorities, delegating effectively... I packed as much must-have knowledge as I possibly could into this. If you are a leader who likes stories, humor, different perspectives on leadership and reminders of what is essential in motivating and managing others, I hope you'll take a look at the course. https://lnkd.in/dayXbdcC

Veterinary Leadership Mentor | Operations Manager | Speaker | Course Creator | Podcast Host | Personal Trainer — I support Veterinary Managers become Veterinary Leaders 🐾🦄
Last week, I highlighted a concerning trend - clinics hiring managers with little to no experience and leaving them to navigate the complexities of their role alone. Today, let's shift our focus to the solution: Support and Training. In an industry as dynamic as veterinary medicine, investing in our managers' growth and development is essential. Here's why: 1️⃣ Empowerment: Adequate training empowers managers to make informed decisions, manage teams effectively, and drive positive change. 2️⃣ Retention: When managers feel supported and equipped for success, they're more likely to stay committed to the organization, reducing turnover. 3️⃣ Quality Care: Properly trained managers ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and uphold industry standards. So, what can we do? 🤝 Mentorship Programs: Encourage experienced leaders to mentor new managers, sharing insights and wisdom gained over the years. If you don’t have this available and you’re the manager stuck in the role with no support, consider hiring a coach/mentor yourself! 📚 Continuous Learning: Provide access to training programs, workshops, and resources that keep managers updated on industry trends and leadership skills. If your company won’t do this for you, it’s imperative you do whatever you can to keep learning! 🔄 Feedback Loops: Create a culture of feedback, where managers receive constructive input to refine their abilities. 💡 Innovative Solutions: Explore tech tools and systems that simplify administrative tasks, allowing managers to focus on strategic leadership. By prioritizing support and training for our clinic managers, we not only enhance their capabilities but also strengthen our organizations and, ultimately, the veterinary industry as a whole. Let's invest in the future of veterinary leadership together! 💪 and if you’re not feeling that your leaders are giving you the support and training that you need to lead your team stay tuned as I’m creating resources for you over at LVT.vet Follow me over on Instagram @leadingveterinaryteams for more tips, ideas, and leadership training #VeterinaryLeadership #SupportAndTraining #QualityCare

What drives you? ⚡ What drains you? 💧 These were the questions I asked the leaders who joined the Philippine Veterinary Drug Association Business School learning session last week. However… I asked not about themselves, but about the people they lead or work with. Do you know what drives your team? Do you know what drains them? Connecting with the people you work closely with, and building a relationship with them helps build trust. When there is trust, leaders give their teams more autonomy and provide them room to grow and develop. When there is trust, teams feel seen, safe and valued, and are motivated to perform better. 🤝 Start building trust within your teams by connecting with one person today. #CareerCoaching #LeadershipCoaching #CareerDevelopment

Executive Producer Tribal Leadership, Workplace Culture Approved Tribal Leader Consultant, Professional Certified Coach
pets, Pets, PETS ... are they similar or different to human team & group dynamics? This week I am pet-sitting for some good friends as they are on vacation. 3 lovely cats, 2 adorable dogs plus my golden retriever for a total this week.. I noticed at the beginning of the week the two younger 1-year-old kitties were hiding out to see what the mix and dynamics were going to be As I settled in and did my leadership coaching work, I thought to myself, how is this group of pets similar or different to human team & group dynamics? There are two teams, one cats and the other dogs. They seem to have social behaviors similar to human groups. Are the days went on, the pets broke into two groups of dogs vs cats, similar to human teams of we vs they. Then a couple of days later there was a homogeneous effect where the dogs and cats intertwined with each other through the days. Reminder me of team and groups dynamics in humans too. Most interesting was at night time when pets were slipping in their resting positions including plenty of snoring. I am curious about your experience of pets intermingled in your lives aka team & group dynamics.
