The Michaels Organization’s Post

For our last Urban Land Institute NEXT meeting, we had the incredible opportunity to tour Jordan Downs, a residential development in Watts. The redevelopment project, led by HACLA in collaboration with BRIDGE Housing Corporation and The Michaels Organization is adding 800 new units to the community in addition to rehousing families in 700 new units. Not only will Jordan Downs provide much-needed housing, but it’s also creating job opportunities, childcare facilities, parks, and gathering spaces. The overall plan includes both rental housing and ownership opportunities, a 115,000 square foot neighborhood retail center, and a large community center. Kudos to HACLA for their commitment to revitalizing this historic community while ensuring that no existing residents are displaced.  Thank you, HACLA, for hosting the tour and giving us a glimpse into the future!
