🗣️ WOMEN TALK REAL ESTATE – SPEAKERS’ CAFÉ ☕ Our associate director, Michelle Cooper joined a panel at Diversity Talks Real Estate’s Speakers’ Café yesterday, where market trends, ESG and DEI were the topics on discussion. Speaker highlights and key takeaways include: 📉 Current market conditions – panellists concurred that clients and project experts are increasingly more creative and flexible when developing project solutions, which is pushing routine collaboration and the formation of inclusive environments. 💷 The current economic climate’s impact on design requirements – value engineering has become more of a process requirement and key to achieving an optimal product with minimised resources. Expediting the value engineering process requires maximising stakeholder engagement and collaboration beyond the routine. 🌱 Embracing sustainability requirements practically – organisations and subject matter experts are analysing not only cost data throughout the project lifecycle for sustainable solutions, but they’re also analysing post-occupancy information on a routine basis to understand their ROI. 💡 And lastly…for key capital expenditures facing scrutiny during the design process, panellists encourage investors, developers and owners to consider not only the upfront cost but the payoff down the road as well. #RealEstate #DEI #ESG #TeamPulse 📷 credit Diversity Talks Real Estate Ian Carey | James Peake | James O'Keeffe | Kevin Jones | Lee Cantrill | Graham Black

Non Executive Director | Strategic Advisor | Venture Partner - Open to New Opportunities - Digital Transformation; Innovation; AI Implementation; Sustainability: Director of Real Estate
I’m delighted to announce that I’ve been asked by the excellent Sarah Rock to host a round table discussion on PropTech and ESG at Boodle Hatfield on 6 March. With global investment in the PropTech market predicted to grow to around $32.2 billion by 2030, it's clear that the rise of property technology or “PropTech” is staggering. Equally, ESG is now a major factor in shaping the real estate sector for the future. But how do the two impact each other? As the 2030 deadline for Net Zero Carbon fast approaches, many are wondering how PropTech can help in reaching their ESG objectives. Whilst others question if much of this PropTech is a distraction or indeed a hindrance to their progress. After hearing from me about the use of PropTech in working towards Net Zero Carbon and some practical suggestions of what can actually be done in the next 5 years, we will open the floor for you to share your experiences of how PropTech is assisting in reaching your ESG objectives. This is a pressing topic for many in the real estate sector and Boodle Hatfield LLP are keen to hear their clients views on the subject. Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn from others and share your own insights. Contact Sarah or myself to reserve your spot at the roundtable discussion. #PropTech #ESG #NetZeroCarbon #RealEstate #DigitalTransformation #Innovation

Trilogy's Head of Campus and Social Impact, May Molteno, has been on stage at Bisnow's UK Real Estate ESG Agena conference, talking through the ways that developers can build a sense of community by shaping spaces and connecting people. May brought her experiences from projects including Republic London and Great Northern Warehouse to discuss on a panel with Ghislaine Halpenny, Morwenna Hall, Matt Flynn and Chris Benn. May's top 4 insights: 1️⃣ Successful places don’t work if they operate as Islands. Developers need to work with local community. 2️⃣ If you’re managing real estate, you’re managing space. There is a wealth of community activity out there looking for a space to use. At the most basic level all you need to do is provide is spaces that are ready for the community to use, and are free. 3️⃣ How do we notice if social value is working? You really have to roll up your sleeves and get involved, and collect data so that you're able to back up the intuition you gain from direct involvement. 4️⃣ You need to make the effort to make contact with the local community. People are not "hard to reach", we're just not creating the right opportunities to speak to them. Being involved in your local area will change the decisions you make for the better. #realestate #ESG #communityengagement #propertydevelopment
