On this Giving Tuesday, we are launching the Southwest Florida Village Vow as an audacious movement to transform lives and create lasting impact in African American communities of Southwest Florida. Many of the neighborhoods – and their residents – within Southwest Florida’scommunities are defined by the innumerable challenges to quality of life, including health, education and employment, rather than their capacity to be a thriving place to live, work and play💙 With a Mission to improve health and wellbeing, Sozo Wellness finds this condition worrisome and accepts our role in effecting change. Our work within the Southwest Florida Village Vow will offer health, social and educational services to children and their families to provide support to help them succeed. 🏥 Health & Wellness: Ensuring enhanced access to culturally responsive healthcare, preventative wellness, and nutrition resources 📚 Education & Youth : Empowering our children to reach their full potential through quality educational and character building programs. 💵 Economic Empowerment: Financial literacy & career navigation to help narrow the income gap while offering families hope and opportunity. 🏡 Stability in Homes: Working with community partners to ensure secure and healthy environments for our families. It's pretty mild out, but that rain, eek! But you know what? I say that from the warmth and shelter of my own home. Too many people don't have that luxury. And you know what? It should not be a luxury. Everyone should have a home, a place to rest their head, a place of sanctuary, a place to rest, recuperate, and grow. We're heading into the final countdown to Christmas, and my final countdown until I sign off. Many of you reading this will have already put the OOO on, and switched into festive break mode. You. Deserve. It. But so does everyone else. So do the 135,800 young people who approached their council as homeless last year. So do the 73,660 households owed a prevention or relief duty by their council (5,394 in GM!) So do the 105,750 households in temporary accommodation. So do the 139,000 children in temporary accommodation. These are massive numbers, so I'll give you some smaller ones. Our winter campaign is just £9,120 off the target. That's just 304 of my network giving £30 each, enough to cover a bed for the night in the pioneering scheme, A Bed Every Night. It's not just a bed, it's the start of a journey to stability, and just one way we can make a dent in the terrible numbers reported daily. Those numbers are people. “Beyond Relaxation: Volunteering with Tribal & Orphan Children Fulfills the Soul” Those children came to this world, but to be an orphan or to be born into a place with limited opportunities is not their mistake. Yet, they face challenges that most of us cannot even imagine. In our bustling lives, we often seek moments of relaxation and tranquility. We plan trips, book vacations and look forward to escaping the routine. However, there is a way to find true fulfillment and relaxation that goes beyond mere recreation: spending a day with tribal or orphaned children who desperately need our support. Imagine gathering your colleagues and friends, not for a usual outing, but for a meaningful day dedicated to bringing joy and support to these children. Just one day can make a world of difference in their lives and leave your heart feeling fulfilled and content. Many corporate organizations pride themselves on their contributions to society. Yet, these efforts often remain concentrated within urban areas. It's time to extend our helping hands to the suburban, hillside and remote village regions where help is desperately needed. By reaching out to these areas, we can ensure that our efforts truly make a difference where they are needed most. So many of us pray for good fortune and wish for a happy life. Let us pray our wishes to God, and as He/she fulfills them, let's offer our gratitude by providing for these needy children in various forms. Be it food, clothing, books, or educational support, every small contribution counts. When we serve those in need, we are indeed serving God. Organize a day where you and your colleagues visit this kind of children’s. Spend time with them, understand their world, and provide the support they need. Your visit will not only bring smiles to their faces but also offer you a deep sense of inner peace and satisfaction. Be the Joy bring the joy.... Preventing holiday hunger and keeping kids active over summer   We were among those who helped the Urban Outreach charity to provide Bolton Lunches for school age children, so no school meals during the summer break meant no problem for families.   We pitched in to prepare food and drink lunch packs at the Humanitarian Hub on the Greenworks site that we share with Urban Outreach at Trinity Retail Park. And every weekday we handed out packs from collection sites across neighbourhoods. Overall, a whopping 75,773 lunches were given out in six weeks. Our thanks and gratitude to everyone who took part. Wondering why we do this?   We’re one of the organisations that make-up The Bolton Family. This is an award winning group of public, private, charitable and voluntary organisations working together to make Bolton a strong, vibrant and prosperous place to live. You’ll see Bolton Family members supporting Bolton Lunches each summer, and the Christmas Dinner on Jesus campaign each winter. So, we support Bolton Lunches as an organisation and as individuals to make holiday times a bit easier for families.   With Bolton Lunches, many of us feel it’s important to take some time out of our schedules, early in the morning or over lunchtimes, to help local children stay healthy and happy. Research has shown that the school holidays can be pressure points for some families and it can lead to a holiday experience gap for some children, with some: · less likely to access organised out-of-school activities, · more likely to experience ‘unhealthy holidays’ in terms of nutrition and physical health, · more likely to experience social isolation. This is also why, through our Community Engagement Team, we usually get involved in running free holiday activities too. We’ve supported thousands of children and their families with things to do and food to enjoy over Easter, summer, and Christmas school holidays. Opportunities to support vital community-focused projects, such as Bolton Lunches, are offered as part of your employment with us. This is because of the positive impact and benefits to our communities, charitable partners and you. Memories are all we have and it is so important to be able to create them on a regular basis to keep us going, to remember the good times, enjoy life, be part of joy. When a child is unwell it is not so easy to be able to do that and we are here to help create memories that the whole family can look forward to and treasure always. We take so much in life for granted and it just shows how simple things can create so much joy as these children are living in the moment. So help us to create moments to treasure as it is only by working together that we can make the wishes happen and do this. Let's create moments the child can look back on and remember all the joy and fun had, which in turn can make them feel better if they are having a bad day. Spring break is here, and it’s the perfect time for kids to enjoy not just a break from school, but also an opportunity to give back and help others. Here at Brighton Our World, we believe every moment is a chance to make a positive impact, and spring break is no exception. Here are some inspiring ways kids can use their spare time to spread kindness and support their communities: Neighborhood Cleanup: Gather friends and family for a neighborhood cleanup day. It’s a fun way to enjoy the outdoors and take care of our environment. Crafts for a Cause: Spend some time creating handmade cards, decorations, or small gifts to distribute at local nursing homes, hospitals, or shelters. A little creativity can bring a lot of joy. Book Drive: Organize a book drive in your community. Collecting books for local libraries, schools, or children’s hospitals can help promote literacy and bring stories to those who need them most. Garden for Good: Start a small community garden or help out in an existing one. Donating the produce to local food banks can help provide fresh, healthy options for families in need.
