Next Generation: Six summer interns join Sizewell C to work for six weeks over the summer. It is the fourth year in a row that six university students have been selected to work an internship over the summer by EDF (UK) SZC. Sizewell C Joint MD Julia Pyke has been closely involved in the internship programme since its inception and said, “We’ve been running a summer internship for the last four years and see it as an important way of inspiring the next generation about careers in nuclear. It’s vital that as many people as possible see a career in nuclear as a career for them. Our project is going to be around for generations to come, so internships like this are key to accessing young, intelligent and ambitious people who will be the future of the nuclear industry.” The six lucky interns are: > Ophelia Rajpaul studying for a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Development at the University of Birmingham. > Chisom Kosisochukwu Nwudoh studying MSc. The role of hydrogen in the energy transition is a central issue that will become increasingly important in the near future for all economic, social and academic players. This is the context in which Bruno Brèthes, Claire Rivollier and Michael Huss had the pleasure of giving a lecture on liquid hydrogen to students of the Université de Technologie de Belfort-Montbéliard specialized Hydrogen Master's programme. After an introduction to where hydrogen comes from, the course focused on liquefaction systems as well as transport and distribution of liquid hydrogen. A visit to the laboratories of UTBM's Hydrogen and Energy platform rounded off the presentation.
