Do you make gift aid charitable donations and pay higher rates of tax? If so, it is worth remembering that any donations made before 5 April will see you receive the benefit much sooner than ones made just after. So if you have someone that you've been meaning to sponsor, if you do this before 5 April you will see a reduction in your tax bill in January 2025, whereas if you make this payment on 6 April you won't see the benefit until January 2026. https://buff.ly/2MRNGo0 #SelfAssessment #Donations

A quarter through the month, a third through my target. $2,150 raised to date. Swim 2: 1,500m for 3km total. Hit the $2,000 mark - thankyou everyone for the support. Swim 1: 1,500m done! Close to $1,800 raised! Update: $1,500 raised thus far with the Starlight Foundation total sitting at just over AUD 1m. Amazing. Swimming starts tomorrow….. I very rarely do this on this platform - but it’s for a really important cause. I’m raising money in support of the Starlight Foundation who do amazing work in support of families with children affected by cancer. I’ll be racking up km in the pool and would greatly appreciate your support. Cheers.

Love this. New from Dr. Robert Cialdini: How the Boy Scouts Increased Donations by 366% Outside a grocery store, a local Boy Scout troop asked exiting shoppers "Would you like to buy some popcorn?" 85% said "no". So they changed the question: "Do you support the Boy Scouts? Then would you like to buy some popcorn to support the Boy Scouts?" This simple language change led to a staggering uplift in popcorn sales and donations, including many people who said they don't want the popcorn but would love to donate anyway. Terrific. #charitymarketing #nonprofitmarketing #fundraising

Did you know that your contributions to Every Kid Sports can also contribute to your tax savings? Every Kid Sports is a recognized nonprofit organization that works tirelessly to ensure income-restricted families can afford youth sports registration fees. A significant 80 cents of every dollar donated directly funds these registration fees, making sports accessible for all children, regardless of their family's financial situation. This not only fosters equality in sports participation but also provides a tax advantage to those who donate. According to IRS regulations, certain expenses related to child-care programs, including sports programs, can qualify for a tax credit of up to $3,000. Although not all recreational activities are tax-deductible, contributions to nonprofits like Every Kid Sports can potentially reduce your tax liability. Remember, every child deserves the chance to play, and your contribution can make that happen while also providing potential tax advantages. Together, we can make a difference, one child at a time. NOT ASKING FOR MONEY, just sharing an interesting thought. Cool prizes don’t motivate people to share your brand/idea/cause or whatever else you are trying to promote. My football club, the Judean Rebels, is made up of multiple tackle and flag teams with hundreds of players and former players. I made an offer to the team captains: Whichever team raises the most money for our go-fund-me would get a customized pair of Air Force Ones. The mock-up looked sweet. The team captains were pretty into it. I thought it would be a home run. But then we ran into our first major problem: We couldn't convince any of the players to commit to raising anything. And the captains gave up. The result? 24 donations reaching about $1,500. So early this year my friend Daniel Freishtat reached out to me and asked me if I wanted to run a peer-to-peer fundraiser using CauseMatch. I told him I know everything about peer-to-peer, and believe me, it’s not for us. But we met anyway, and within a few minutes, we uncovered 5 different huge mistakes I had made. And what we could have done. So I took them up on it. And we’ll see if we can beat that $1,500 raised. And I am going to show you exactly how we do it in the following weeks. #fundraising #nonprofit #football

Making giving easier to fight poverty and enrich lives across County Durham, empowering our #SmallButVital local charities and the communities they serve.
People often ask me to explain what a community foundation does. At its simplest, County Durham Community Foundation gets money in and then gets it out to the small, essential but all too often underfunded grassroot charities that are intimately connected to and trusted by their communities. Charities that do everything asked of them and more. Charities that rely on a few passionate staff, lots of volunteers and a 'well, we just have to...if not us, then who' mindset. This report from The Centre for Social Justice is short but brings together all too familiar stats to us. A few headlines: - 85 per cent of all charitable income in England and Wales goes to just 4 per cent of registered charities - average expenditure for small charities has risen by almost 12 per cent post-pandemic, compared with only a 3 per cent rise in income - the 10 biggest charities spend more on fundraising alone (£243 million) than the combined total income of over 75,000 smaller charities - 75 per cent of the sector’s total income flows to just 1 per cent of charities- charities in London receive up to 8 times more public funding than elsewhere in the country Sobering stats as we enter a new budget year, a year when I expect we will support near enough 600 small charities again in County Durham alone, all doing vital work. Thats a lot of small charities in just one part of the UK doing tough work that is getting tougher every single day. UK Community Foundations #enrichinglives #smallbutvital
