John Howard is not everyone's cup of tea and he certainly hasn't always been mine ... but he was always fearless and confident in his own views ... and this time I applaud both his common sense and his strength of character to speak out with clarity and no ambiguity - "Donald Trump does not deserve to be President again". What a pity that no serving politician has the courage to speak with similar integrity. There are no doubt many who believe that Biden also does not deserve to be President again, and I certainly am underwhelmed by his leadership - but the clear truth is Trump lacks the integrity, character and decency to represent the world's leading economic and military power. How sad it is that the USA is so controlled by vested interests and lobby groups that the country seems to be incapable of producing a Presidential Candidate worthy of the title. The USA seems to be in a downward spiral of gun lunacy, shattered health care systems, racial inequality and amoral political candidates and agendas. How is this going to be reversed? And if it can't, why is Australia so committed to being a puppet state of the USA? Has anyone got any thoughts on how the USA can reverse this ever-steepening declining trajectory? PART THREE Do the right thing. Look further into your options. This is the election that will make America look like the respectable powerhouse we once were. Can you look at the presidential position with the same respect after the debacle’s we’ve experienced? We’ve seen nothing is set in stone. Every rule can be broken. There is no line in the sand. And anyone can get away with anything. In the eyes of other countries, we were powerful and strong. Now you know how they look at us. The behavior you are allowing is a joke. They no longer view America as the respectable leader. My biggest take away is – you cannot believe a word anyone says. The man (so far) in front cannot be trusted that what he is saying is what he means. You know you have to follow the money. The man up front is the puppet. The money and the machine behind him (so far, again) is what does the moving of parts. Yet you stand idly by and want history to repeat itself. At least I am doing what I know to do. I am writing this (and many) books. Do the right thing. Look your kids in the eye. Look at what is left of your country and your planet; see what you are handing over to them. How can you explain it to them now so they can be prepared? Are you going to tell them you didn’t do anything about it? That is what they see. They don’t miss a lick.

Disgruntled Braverman Intent On Humiliating Sunak After Firing Her - What Does It Tell Us About State of British Politics; Here are some thoughts & a prediction considering there are much more important things to focus on like the conflict in the Mideast, so here goes briefly; 1) It is quite clear to me that braverman is into politics for all the wrong reasons; championing vile ideologies the likes that we've rarely seen in British politics and prioritises her own self interest ahead of country or party. If in doubt just consider the circumstances of her firing twice from the same role. She doesn't accept any kind of limitations to her role despite the fact that she possesses very limited experience/talent when it comes to politics partly due to her arrogant character that is less about talent and more about ego. All you need to do to validate this claim is watch her interviews and parliamentary hearings. 2) The concept of political patronage and the musical chair game of passing important/consequential roles to philistines who have no expertise/credentials to head important government departments needs to STOP. It's also critical to assess personalities, biases and vulnerabilities from a national security stand point. In other words the current selection process needs to be scrapped. As for electing the head of government; well, well, well... Seems the braverman letter demonstrates in black/white the scrutiny applied in selecting Sunak; not the public scrutiny but the braverman scrutiny just to be clear! That's the state of our archaic Democracy model we're working with at the minute. Send us your email address and we'll let you if/when this model is updated in this century-that is if we're lucky to have the genes for a long life expectancy. 3) As for my prediction is would be that braverman will be eventually kicked out of the Conservative party because they're now - just now - becoming familiar with her dark side now that she's let loose and she will end up being picked by a radical right wing party which in opinion suits her well, though I suspect that any future consequential political role will unlikely come her way. As for Sunak he's toast mainly due to bringing back Cameron which demonstrates weakness but this braverman letter will further challenge/undermine his authority. Just a thought! #uk #politics

Some claim our political leaders are ideologically void, emphasising pragmatism and relativism under a facade of liberalism. Many of those further on the left believe this facade enables a drift toward the right wing. Henry Jones argues that a Keir Starmer government could, in this way, unintentionally boost Nigel Farage's influence by echoing Tony Blair’s effects on right-wing populism. Jones suggests that Starmer’s approach neglects deep-seated socioeconomic issues thereby benefiting Farage. This potential arises from persistent public discontent with neoliberal policies exacerbating inequality and stagnating social mobility. I've been reading a lot about different governments of all types. Different wars, different societies, different leaders, followers, and different ideologies. The one thing in common is they all require subterfuge and violence at some level to accomplish their goals. It is inevitable. Because there are always many factions trying to rule and get the 'spoils', there will always be factions trying to TAKE AWAY from the present system. The difference is: which system supplies the best balance of power for the average citizen of a country. It certainly isn't communism, socialism or any totalitarian type of government. If you have done your reasonable reading of history you would know this. The best system I can see is the America form of a Republic. The balance of "legislative, executive and judicial". And up to recently the freedom of speech for any citizen and for our news media. It's scary in the late 2000nds that our news media has become basically a political tool for the socialists and our judicial, legislative and executive branches have become entwined in an apparent liberal so called progressive attempt at undoing our separations of the branches of government. Anyone who knows anything about government should be really frightened at what the Democratic Party is trying to push on America. I certainly am.

HOW DO WE GIVE PEOPLE POWER? How did < insert name of country leader> become president / prime minister/ supreme leader? What were the skills or attributes that he brought to the role? This is not a partisan question. It is a proposal for sober reflection on how we give people power. This is a post Boris Johnson analysis - could equally have been an analysis of Donald Trump, Benjamin Netanyahu, Silvio Berlusconi, Vladimir Putin, Idi Amin, Jacob Zuma, Scott Morrison We know from May’s Law of Curvilinearity that party activists tend to be more extreme in their views than the general public, and are likely to prize certain “qualities” (such as celebrity status, charisma and charm) over “basic skills” (organisational expertise or project management experience). Celebrity, charisma and charm might be appropriate qualities for tea parties and fundraising dinners but they’re not much good for leading integrated response strategies to crises. #power #leadership #election #elections2024

I'm interested in David Cameron's return to government. I recognise the thought process. But my goodness, I don't want to talk about the politics. Every week I have conversations that go something along the lines of, "We have a red hot problem. We absolutely don't have the capability in house. But something else has happened over here that means I can shift things about a bit - and we're going to need to bring in an external person to help us". Of course I do - that's literally what I do for a living. And yesterday's reshuffle absolutely screams that type of thinking. Foreign policy right at this moment is a nightmare. The global situation is deeply precarious. I can absolutely see why Sunak wants a heavyweight in there. He obviously doesn't think there is anyone in his parliamentary party with the chops to handle it. And yet he likes Cleverly...and so he's taken the opportunity presented to him. Now you might think that Sunak is incompetent. Or the best Prime Minister ever. You might think appointing Cameron is a disgrace, or a stroke of genius. You can think whatever you like about the politics because I am in no position to tell you whether you are right or wrong. Appointing Foreign Secretaries is not my gig (thank goodness). But the principle of identifying someone from outside the organisation with relevant experience, and getting them in to help, even if they've previously been a critic - that I recognise. *ducks for cover* Vocative #politics #business #hiring
