After a very quiet several months on LinkedIn for me, I am finally making public one of my latest moves. I have officially acquired Paragon Plants, a Sales and Brokering company for ornamental and nursery plant material.
With 25+ years of history selling primarily across the Intermountain West region, Paragon had the strong foundation I was looking for in a small business, both on the supplier side in Oregon, and with our amazing customer base in Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Eastern Oregon & Washington (for now).
For the last several years, the #agriculture sector has pulled at me, but finding the right fit was a slow and passive approach. I loved what I did in the international world, and a piece of my heart is still in #LATAM. However, a small side gig of slinging some trees on a few Saturdays in the spring often gave me a mental out from the everyday grind, and reminded me of just how much I love the Ag sector and sales. I took a huge leap of faith last fall on going for something I felt was big.
I look forward to building on a strong foundation, and scaling the business to where I think Paragon should be. Lofty goals ahead for 2024 and 2025, but none that are not reasonable now that I've spent the last 6 months studying the strengths of 10 wonderful suppliers, and those amazing strengths of so many dedicated customers.
I would love to connect with anyone in the Nursery industry (or cross-over industries). This is an old-school industry, ripe for technology and data study implementation. I am reminding myself that this is a long game... so much to do, so many things that are ripe for change! It sure is easy to wake up early and get going when opportunities are abundant!
